Early Access Review
A really innovate and promising foundation for an incredible movement shooter. What's already there is excellent, with a lot of mechanical depth and a very high skill ceiling, which makes the game very rewarding to learn. That being said, the learning curve is steep, and new player onboarding is minimal - There is very little in the way of tutorials at the moment. If you can overcome the initial learning curve then I think there is a lot here to like. It's very fluid to play and there's a ton of room for individual expression in your playstyle thanks to in the in-depth build crafting.

Aside from mechanics, the presentation for the game is awesome, and I really mess with this kind of dark cyberpunk aesthetic. Everything about the art design just oozes style.

Flashy, fun, and with a lot of depth to boot. This game has the sauce. Sincerely looking forward to watching it grow.

In my opinion, this is one of, if not the greatest metroidvania ever made. It exceeded my expectations and then some. An absolute wealth of content, beautiful art direction and music, engaging storytelling, exciting fast-paced combat with plenty of skill expression, and a sense of exploration unmatched within its genre.

I've rarely seen such attention to detail in a game like this. It's very apparent that this game was made with care, thought, and passion, every step of the way. Time and time again I found myself in awe at the sheer scope and depth of this game's world. I was eager to explore and take in as much as I could. And there are plenty of secrets to discover for those willing to take the time do so.

The presentation speaks for itself. Incredible art direction throughout with truly stunning hand-drawn visuals. Christopher Larkin's music works wonderfully here as well. For a game with a title like "Silksong", the music plays just as big of a part in the experience as you'd expect.

The combat is a welcome change of pace from it's predecessor, and I really enjoyed playing around with all the new mechanics. I think the emphasis on fast movement was a really smart idea and works well thematically with Hornet's character. I found the game to provide a good level of challenge as well. It was very rewarding to improve at and personally I never found myself very frustrated.

Any criticism I have for the game really boils down to a few nitpicks here and there, but nothing which I think hinders the experience as a whole. Some enemies, particularly certain ones that move around erratically, can be a little annoying to fight. In regards to completion, I think going for 100% is a bit difficult at points with just how much it expects you to comb over the map. Definitely not impossible but if you're missing just one or two things and you have the entire map to look over, that's when it gets a little exhausting. It's also not entirely apparent when something you're looking for is progression-locked which can lead to some moments when you're just butting your head against a wall looking for a solution you won't find. I think for the average player, this won't matter too much, though.

In all, I think this game is a masterpiece and has earned a spot among my favorite games ever made. Team Cherry has outdone themselves, and I'm excited to see what they do next. I can only hope I'm able to play another game like this in my lifetime!

Mouthwashing is a game that really sticks with you. It's a brief yet impactful story with a cast of well-written characters. Excellent presentation, visual style, and audio design. I particularly enjoyed the non-linear style of storytelling that the game utilizes - It's very clever and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. If you appreciate psychological horror and bleak sci-fi then this one's for you. Highly recommend. Take responsibility.

One of the best shooter games to come out in years.

Engaging and tactical gameplay with an emphasis on teamwork. The gunplay is satisfying and feels great with a nice variety of weapon types. The moment-to-moment gameplay is varied and exciting. The art direction and graphics are stunning and add a lot to the overall cinematic feeling of the whole experience. The system for calling in "strategems" like orbital strikes, bombs, support weapons, and sentries is brilliant and gives you a real sense of power.

An excellent foundation for a game which will only improve with time, with a receptive and hardworking development studio to back it up. This game is worth the hype, and worth playing.

While it does take a different path, Darkest Dungeon II is a worthy successor to the original, in my opinion.

While the original Darkest Dungeon played more as an ironman RPG, the sequel offers a roguelite spin on the familiar formula. Despite their differences however, Darkest Dungeon II perfectly captures the feeling that made the original so great - overcoming adversity. It retains the tried and true combat flow of the original game, as well as the ability to slowly get stronger not only over the course of a run, but the entire game.

The art direction speaks for itself in that it's absolutely gorgeous to look at. I'd go far as to call it one of the best looking games I've played from a stylistic perspective. And in my opinion, the 3D models and artwork in this game are even better than the 2D sprites from the original. One of my favorite visual additions are the beautiful, impactful animations for all the attacks. It's an exceedingly well done aspect of the game.

Each hero has a unique playstyle and a wide array of unique perks and abilities to choose from, in addition to different unlockable subclasses for each one. This, combined with the trinkets and items you find during your run, will add plenty of gameplay variety on a per-run basis. Furthermore, you can permanently upgrade your heroes by unlocking new abilities during the run. It provides a nice incentive to switch things up and further progress each character's individual story while unlocking abilities in the process.

To keep things brief - I think if you can accept the fact that Darkest Dungeon II is a different game than the first, you will certainly enjoy it. You will fail, and it's by design. You will learn from experience, and your heroes will become stronger even through your failure. Seeing your heroes become resolute and overcoming their failures is the heart and soul of Darkest Dungeon. It's a game that revolves around risk management - and with it comes great reward.

Lunacid is a fun, rewarding, and most of all, atmospheric experience that is worth your time if you enjoy exploration, dungeon crawling, and finding secrets. However, it is not a perfect game.

This game succeeds greatly in its sense of exploration and wonder. It captures the distinct feeling of being dropped into a foreign, dreamlike world with very little guidance - your only task to find a way through it. There are secrets to discover around every corner. It's worth playing for that feeling alone. The atmosphere is incredibly well done with its retro art style and overall themes. It is a lucid dream in its truest sense.

The combat and rpg elements are simple, but they get the job done. Finding a new weapon is always fun, and there's a good amount of spells to play around with. You'll be constantly changing your equipment to best suit the situation you're in and the enemies you're fighting due to the elemental weaknesses. However, while there is some difficulty at first, I've found the combat difficulty to fall off during the latter half of the game. Encounters become mostly trivial after leveling past a certain point. If I were to play through the game again, I would raise the difficulty past the default level.

Where Lunacid falls short, in my opinion, is in the obscurity of many of the secrets. The secrets are both one of the greatest strengths of the game and the biggest weaknesses. I will preface this by saying that I understand the intent behind implementing such obscure secrets as it lends greatly to the retro feel of the game. However, completionists and achievement hunters should know that it is extremely unlikely that you'll get everything, all of the achievements, or even any of the alternate endings without looking it up. There is a severe lack of ingame hints towards many of the game's obscure secrets. I put in a good amount of effort being as thorough as I possibly could with this game and still missed quite a bit. There are things that a player would simply never think to do by themselves without looking it up. That being said, you will probably be able to reach the end of the game without outside help (with the exception of one vague and slightly misleading secret which will halt your progression if you don't figure it out).

If the completionists among you can make peace with the fact that you will not discover every secret and alternate ending without outside guidance, then I think you'll find Lunacid to be a memorable, atmospheric, and rewarding game that will transport you to another world and keep you hungry to explore every part of it.
