Meh. Seems like a good idea, but it is pretty much a gigantic map with 3 or 4 big alliances, most of which speak Spanish, and if you do not join one, there is literally NO indication on where things are happening and where people are for you to participate. other games that use this type of PvP format such as Guild Wars, have "commander" things you can activate, so all allies on the map can see someone who is trying to command/lead. Game feels really dead and desolate.

Really fun game that is plagued with terrible matchmaking mechanics, terrible servers and greedy af monetization. People leaving every other match which forces the match to close and the servers just flat out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ themselves mid match at least once or twice a day ruins the experience. Also, due to it being a mobile game, there is no real way to get some of their premium characters without spending money or playing thousands of matches. Also, when the servers die and you attempt to reconnect, the game is not designed for people to rejoin mid match, so you are simply prompted with an error that states "unable to rejoin matches, please wait until it is finished.". It is a REALLY fun game though.

Super fun, especially if you like the Dune universe. There are parts that seem kinda wonky, but the overall game, is extremely enjoyable.

Edit after 125 hours:
The endgame is kinda wack, with a lack of focus to the PvE element. The last tier of equipment IS indeed dependent on PvP areas, thus making PvP a requirement, not an option. What is also annoying is the ratio for aluminum. The game harvests 15-20 hours out of you purely through mining aluminum, the conversion ratio of 7 ore to 1 ingot is wack af and should be adjusted. The only justification for it being so high is for PvP balancing purposes, and it ruins TF out of PvE IMO. The Animations need some work, with lots of animations breaking (causing the controls to lock up/ not deploying the item correctly). Stability with sandstorms would be nice, same with fixing the crashing if you open the steam overlay. The Deep Desert is kinda wack as a PvE player and overall, there is a need for more content.
There are, however, a lot of things this game does right, like quest tracking for coop players, inventory being extremely user friendly, and the combat (aside from the glitchy animations) is satisfying IMO. The vehicles, though a bit goofy sometimes, are fun to drive and are pretty balanced in terms of resource costs. The base building works pretty well for the most part (though the recent update made my game lag when building), things will snap together well once you play around with the construction tool. I wish there was more cosmetics for bases, but knowing how Conan Exiles worked, all the cosmetics will be in DLC form. The atmosphere is pretty cool with it being a Dune game, and the sand worms offer a good PvE element. The story is cool, and the sound design complements Dune well. Lots of voice acting and decent quests.
Overall I would say the game is definitely worth playing and I would recommend it. I also recommend it based on the idea that the devs will hopefully be adding in more content, with my personal hopes being for more endgame PvE content.

P.S. PLEASE reduce the aluminum ratio, is seriously so wack. Just like, 1 or 2 ore less.... Like a 5 or 6 to 1.

P.P.S Why cant you fly over the sandstorm like they tell Paul to do in the movies?

Early Access Review
Hell yea. The game is pretty much Worlds Adrift 2. Wish they would have been more transparent on worlds adrift, however I am just happy this game is out. The grapple is fun af! Somethings definitely need work, the movement needs polishing, if you swing around a tree while on the grapple and start retracting the line, it squishes you to death lmfao. I wish quests tracked with both players. unlocking the crafting table was kinda a pain. But any issues I have come across are definitely early access problems. Cant wait to see what content awaits!

Great game, used to play on Y8.

Edit: Some things are weird. In the og flash game, the AI would use tower turrets and the spawning of units felt more purposeful, This version, the AI seems to simply start with more resources than you, it does not use turrets, and the ai seems to not be very smart. Also, The game was not "created by Alex Piotrowski", it was remade by Alex Piotrowski, . Seems like a bit of a misleading thing to have on the title. Especially since nothing was added. Until that intro message is changed, I will have to have this awesome game marked as "not recommended".Message, IMO, SHOULD say "game made by Louissi - Recreated/Reforged/remade by Alex Piotrowski."

Edit: Proper credits given, all is well and the game is getting better every update. Much respect for how quick the dev was to change that intro msg.

The game is a lot better than I thought it would be for sure, pretty fun. Its another long one for sure(Ubisoft open world). The main gripe I have is that the games combat is easy, until its glitchy af, then its just plain annoying. Swapping weapons seems to cause an animation lock that stops you from being able to parry until 3 or 4 seconds AFTER the weapon swap is complete(mid combat weapon swaps are annoying). There is also an odd issue when you go to throw a kunai and it just blatantly will not let you throw a kunai until you release RMB then press it again to zoom back in, THEN it will allow you to throw the kunai.
Writing seems pretty good, about the same as Valhalla. It does feel like they toned the collectibles down a bit, and consolidated them into individual location challenges(so you find 3 scrolls at a specific temple and are rewarded, rather than the past few games where you have to hunt down 500 of each of the 20 different types of collectibles).
The hideout builder is definitely a step up from the base "builder" that Valhalla had. Shadows allows you to actually design the layout and placement of all your buildings as opposed to the Valhalla aspect, that just has sign posts for you to "build". Obtaining crafting materials is so much less tedious in Shadows, Valhalla felt annoying and tedious, where as in Shadows you can pretty much just collect the loot from the places you visit and still be able to build your buildings. Plus the materials respawn(I think, lol).
Speaking of the loot... The obtaining of legendary loot seems a bit too easy IMO. I have only barely finished the first section/area(meaning completed the castles and found all the sync points and meditation stuff/temples) and I have full legendary gear... It kinda makes finding common stuff kinda pointless.
The objectives screen IMO is also annoyingly chaotic and caters hard to consoles/controllers. Growing up, for me, the web type of outline was literally the most annoyingly childish and useless of all outlines(in terms of making an outline for an essay) back when I was in school so maybe I am biased, but that was unfortunately something they carried over from the past few games, and even expanded upon it. Valhalla at least still had a quest list that you could open, that was aside from your main bad guy assassination targets, to get a plain LIST of quests. This game does not have that. Its just the annoying web and a chain of quests is simply tied directly to each target (I like that they are linked to specific targets, just not the way they used a web outline lmao).
Everything aside, I definitely think the game has areas of improvement in terms of the combat, as well as some of the item distribution, and for future games I have hope for my own personal preferences(like the dang web being removed lmfao) but the game plays, it is not as hard on my PC as Valhalla was, the theme is cool af, the story is decently entertaining, characters are not really annoying(so far) , and I am having fun. The game also does a good job of building upon the last games for the most part.
In the end, I would recommend this game ONLY at a 60$ price tag. Ubisoft needs to downsize and find its roots, and while I think shadows is a decent direction towards finding said roots, Ubisoft is bloated and the consumers are bearing that burden by paying for that through the 70$ price tag. Ubisoft should still be ashamed to be in the same class as Activision in terms of their price tags and marketing, I just hope they don't start chopping the base games up to sell in pieces like Activision does. I still recommend the game, but in a disgruntled way. Ubisoft needs to understand that gamers don't buy the BS when it comes to "how much it costs to make a game". You don't need a 70$ price tag AND a battle-pass AND live service-like EXPENSIVE cosmetics in a singleplayer game and any of your employees telling you otherwise are full of it.

P.S. Also, to Ubi (doubt you are reading), if you sell to a company based in China or rather any company that has agreed to China's 51% ownership requirement OR its military-civil fusion requirements, I will never purchase a Ubisoft game again. :D

Fun af so far. Just wish that friends who use the friend's pass could obtain achievements as well.
Edit after completion: Great game, the writing for some of the lines seemed a lil too Disney channel-esque and stiff, however the overall story was good and the coop game play is awesome as always. Wish games like this were as common as battle royal games were.

Decent game, like 15-20 hours of gameplay. Great story, fun gameplay that, in terms of bugs and the like, is about the same as most AAA games. I would never be able to recommend buying at full price, especially since it is a PlayStation port, and a port of a game that is 2 almost 3 years old. I would recommend this game when priced at a maximum of $30 and DEFINITELY while on an even better sale. I reiterate that I would NOT recommend purchasing the game at full MSRP.

Decent game, especially compared to others in its genre, it is incredibly frustrating how Overpowered Scarlet witch and Hawkeye are. Hawkeye is literally a normal human with a bow same with Punisher(who is really cool, but he is a normal human). they should not have the same amount of/if not more health as Ironman. Defense wise, this is the same case with scarlet witch, she should not be JUST as fast as Ironman(who can fly alongside jets) in flight mode. Her ability to disappear and have I-frames regens WAY too fast. IMO, Punisher's health should be swapped with Ironman, as currently Ironman has 250 health(a guy in a nanite suit, similar tech to blackpanther ffs who has 300 HP) while Punisher a NORMAL human, no matter how cool, somehow has 275. The monetization is REALLY greedy as well, 3 types of currency, usually small morsels of premium currency is part of the reward track for battle passes, that is the case for this game. HOWEVER, They made it so that you purchase their premium currency(lattice), then spend that currency on the other "premium" currency, units(which is the type you can earn and spend in their store) however, the battle-pass can ONLY be purchased using lattice. This is clearly done in a way to prevent people from ever being able to EARN a battle-pass. Grease af. The few games I have purchased battle-passes for, I purchased them knowing that after 2 or 3 battle-passes if I completed them, could earn me a "free" battle-pass that I had worked for. I originally set the review to recommended, but that monetization method is very gross IMO.

Edit 1/30/2025:
They seem to have changed their battlepasses to be slightly more worth the price, and actually started adding the premium currency "lattice" to the battlepass as rewards. The amount they added are honestly morsels, but its better than it was on release. Though don't mistake this game for being friendly to F2P players, its 100% still built for "vip" battlepass owners. Game plays better than overwatch and the characters are more interesting, but the cosmetic and rewards systems in Overwatch(at least the first one, never played OW2) are far better. You do not really unlock stuff in Marvel Rivals other than profile pictures and graffiti, no costumes/skins are available outside of their premium currencies and battlepasses, which you can obtain 300 to 400 units PER battlepass(each skin costs a minimum of 1500). Dont worry though, you can obtain the 2 WORST looking skins from the battlepass if you play and earn enough points in the battlepass to unlock the ability to buy them using battlepass currency.... Confusing? This game and its producers are jumping through hoop after hoop in an attempt to make it look like they are not being greedy, and their solution to this? Simply add in MORE currencies!
