Early Access Review
You know when as a child (at heart) you skip steps on a staircase to go fast? And because it's fun?

This game is like that. Except something at the bottom of those stairs is clawing its way up to you.

A friend streamed this and I bought it the day after. I don't normally do this. But heck it's so good.

I never play demos.
But something just drew me in.

And all I can say is: There's a good reason for the "overwhelmingly positive" review state.
If you like climbing with the motivation of anxiety from being followed; Then I'd recommend this.
Do you think "horror" is often too scary or boring cause it's all cheap shots at jump scares? Then I'd recommend this.
It's a constant looming threat of failure if you don't move quick enough (much like my life, ayyyy) where every grip matters.

What really wins me over is that it's not the type of parkour game that has a clear path and you get punished for not following it; It provides a clear path, but you can entirely ignore it and dangle somewhere thinking "well how in the heck am I gonna continue from here", and yet still make it in good time.

Early Access Review
I've chosen to invest in this game. It's rough, as an Early Access game can be. And there's still a long road ahead. But I was a big lover of Worlds Adrift and I would absolutely love to see Lost Skies succeed.

I fully believe in and hope that this will come to completion (and more) with enough support. I've been waiting around 6 years for this, and I can wait a little longer until it gets sorted out.

I don't do a lot of reviews, but I'm recommending this game as it doesn't have a big toxic community that is trying to make the game into something that it is not, and because Worlds Adrift wasn't given the chance that it deserved. I sincerely hope Lost Skies will get the chances it both needs, and deserves

I played back in the day before the Steam migration. I've always scoffed at the insane DLC prices. Back then, I really felt like there were paywalls everywhere and as a free player you couldn't really do much. But it made sense cause you're a free player you know? Usually this would be considered a demo. This was more than a demo.

I recently got back to playing this game, only to find that all narrative and sense of meaningful touch to this game has been removed. All those campaigns that in my opinion are what sparks life in a game, are gone. I remember and miss some of the old missions I played back then.
BUT at the same time, many additions has been made that free players can acccess too. I find that the grinds in Destiny 2 so far aren't as bad as ones from other games (Farmframe for instance) and I like that. There's some chill to it and it doesn't feel like you might as well quit if you miss something. (General farms that is. Occasionally you can run into something specific you want that can take some heavy farming to do, but since that's for special cases I like it.)

However with losing a huge part of the game, which in my opinion is kind of stupid because??? You made it, you spent time and resources on it, why just remove it? It makes your game feel kind of cheap. You just go in and trash a bunch of aliens for no reason. I honestly wouldn't be playing it it it wasn't because I still remember the old campaigns and stories..

EDIT: Wasn't until after this review that I learned and understood they haven't been removed, just shoved into DLC for some reason. Which is still bad because; Bungie, campaigns are supposed to make you invested in the game! Learn and understand the story so that you feel part of the game. You want to keep existing in this universe because you understand what is going on. Why would someone entirely new buy access to a whole new campaign when they're just sitting there like "but what is going on here, why is this happening, am i just killing a bunch of innocent aliens that live here now or what"

Amazing roguelike game. It has quite a beauty and interesting maintenance-and-upgrade-your-spaceship mechanics. Great space battles with weapon and enemy variations to test your strengths and weaknesses. Like any roguelike, it can be frustratingly difficult and a bullethell, but that's what's so great about roguelikes. And just as I thought it was getting repetitive (as most roguelike games easily becomes) new things came into play.

It is important to understand that roguelikes are short(ish) runs of trying your luck with risk, reward and danger, and it can become repetitive. They often are not, and should not be easy to survive, as the whole game is built around the player dying over and over again, as a form of reset on events and upgrading their next runs. The story in the game even relates to this concept. And to me this game brings enough change and random events and encounters to be quite satisfying.

One of few games where I really appreciate the journey over the goal. (and can keep on appreciating it to some level, due to it being roguelike.)

(I may or may not have made this review because I was saddened by all the negative reviews that seemed to not understand what a roguelike is. With that said, I meant everything I wrote.)

Early Access Review
I remember when I saw the first teaser trailers to this game before it was accessible.
I remember when my brother showed me the trailers again after the game went into early access.
I remember thinking "Wow this seems like an amazing game, but I also just know from experience that these days the trailers are so much better than the games".

He talked me into getting it. Playing it. And I freaking loved it. We loved it. It was buggy, but that's what early access means.
This game was unique. I never got too far as I'm not a big PvP fan, and I was busy enjoying exploring the islands and the mysteries that also came later on. I enjoyed travelling with random people, despite the danger. Everyone kept away from each other because people could be very hostile if they saw their chance to get some loot. But oppositely, people could also be very friendly and help each other. Share ship parts when one was building, share blueprints, taxi you around..

I remember putting time into building a ship. Making it yours however you could.
I remember seeing other ships that looked even more interesting, inspiring me to play more with the possibilities.
I remember one time I wanted to fly low to avoid PvP detection so I pointed my ship as far down as I could make it. Suddenly I hit the lowest barrier (Which I assumed would just push my ship into original position) And the entire ship just dismantled before me.
I remember the frustration at every death and having your ship looted.
But I also remember that getting new parts wasn't so hard that you wanted to quit the game altogether. Maybe like take a few days. Never quit it all the way.

I took a few days after losing everything on my longest run. Then a couple of months, just sort of waiting for that feeling of "this is a good time to go back"
When the feeling finally returned.. The game was gone.

R.I.P. World's Adrift. I hope a game like you will be made again, although it could never be a replacement.

I see some people commenting about repetitive gameplay and bugs. Whatever I did, I seemed to avoid all of them. I thoroughly loved every single experience of this game, and I'm definitely coming back for more. A real work of art.
I would want this game to be longer, but I think that for sure would make it repetitive, even for me. So,
Love the game as it is. Amazingly artistic experience.

I have never played the Half Life games (And yes I'm very dissapointed in myself), however i love this little piece of work. It's way too short for my taste, but heck it's free, so i don't feel obligated to complain. I absolutely love the ideas and puzzles except The up arrow in "Wake". I tried pressing that lamp like 10 times before going on a walkthrough to discover that i had to press 2cm's from where i already had.

But this definately made me (even more) want to buy the Half Life games.
There are a few movement based and interaction based things i could review as negative, however I do realize that this engine is older than what I'd usually choose, so only positive words from me. Wish you'd keep it up, but as someone who works with games in my sparetime too, i completely understand this.

Having played UT3 Black Edition, i really think this game feels like a complete rip off, and i felt like that from the moment i entered the menu for the first time. It's basically the same game, just worse. Worse animations, worse weapons, worse graphics, worse voice overlay, worse sounds. It has a slightly different customization that is more "neutral" and deeper than UT3, but that is about the only good thing i can find..
I mean it's sort of fun, and i did after all play my first match to the end.. But being an owner of UT3, i would say, if you want to spend money on a game like this, just better, then go for UT3. Else, i don't bame you for freeloading on TOXIKK.
