Micro-transactions are ALWAYS a bad choice.

I used to really enjoy this game. It still has plenty of potential but the entire feeling of the game has changed. This used to be a scary game that was fun to play with friends. This is now a grindy game, where people use cheese strats, high multipliers, bug abuse, and more to show-off their prestige levels. It's not even impressive to see someone with a high level anymore.

Pros
= Difficult game with horror themes
= Engaging gameplay loop [Find Ghost -> Upgrade Gear -> Find Ghosts more efficiently]
= Singleplayer/Multiplayer

Cons
= Community cheats. Check any lobby and your bound to find someone used a glitched spot or some other cheese strategy. Its common to play the same map (CWW) over and over with high multipliers, knowing that its difficult to die if you all stay around certain objects with smudge sticks.
= Difficulty scales extremely poorly. The game is setup in several difficulty categories. The game is designed around finding evidence. The difficulty goes up by removing the very challenge the game was designed around, Forcing you through a series of tests each and every single map. It's repetitive, un-engaging, and overall extremely boring. Lower difficulty is more rewarding and that shouldn't be the case.
= No longer a horror game. Every update this game gets farther from its original horror category. I can't remember the last time I felt a sense of fear from this game.
= No mods are supported. In fact, there is a community announcement threatening ban from multiplayer servers if caught modding. I don't understand why you wouldn't want modders to have access to this game. Imagine the type of game we could create if we had access to this kind of sandbox environment. They are limiting the reach of this game with the idea being the integrity of the game, yet the integrity is ALREADY GONE.

Final Rating 4/10. Buy on sale only!

This game just overall sucks. Arbitrary success chances means even a highly optimized layout can still fail. A simulation game should award players for learning the mechanics. It's boring and unsatisfying to play. I regret this purchase.

game has microtransactions after already paying for it. I had 3 teammates leave a game then got focused by the killer. So i left after it was clear i had no chance. Then got banned for five minutes from playing. So yeah this game freaking blows.

EDIT: tried this game again just to be fair. i can honestly say this is the worst game I've played in years. I am so surpised at how bad this game is considering how many people suggested it. The killer has almost no challenge whatsoever. Not to mention they try to charge you up the a** for extra add-ons, characters, perks, and even a season pass type purchase.

EDIT 2: The friend that recommended this game to me finally jumped on with me. He played years ago so i asked if he would show me how to enjoy this game. we then proceeded to get into a match and spend several minutes not being able to do anything because the game is WAYYY to easy for the killer.

♥♥♥♥ these developers, i don't know what kind of drugs people are smoking to think this game is good but i need to be hooked up with their dealer.

I really apologize to the dev for my bad rating as I can tell a lot of work has been put into this game. As I understand it is a single person working on the game and has had many improvements. With that being said the game lacks severe polish.

I subjectively think that games should ease you into the gameplay slowly teaching you tactics before turning into a challenge.

- You start off scavenging the map for supplies. It is wayy to grindy of a game, almost have to put in mmo hours to get good progression. I hate the idea that there are just crates and thats where the majority of your supplies come from in the beginning. Why not just start us out with a bow?

- Death Loops. Did you die during the night? Have fun repeatably dying in an endless loop until daytime cause your too cold to gather any supplies or get back to your base. Maybe a degradable coat would be nice.

- Extremely Slow. You walk and run at the pace of a snail.

- Fishing, I don't even understand. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to catch a fish. Fishing tackle goes into water, I reel it in, no fish. Click the wrong button? Your tackle is destroyed and now you must go find a 6 log tree to get a Tree Grub. Did I mention that tree is probably right next to a deadly bear and wolf?

- Unreal Engine rather sucks and the appeal of this game comes from the crafting, building, survival gameplay. It is frustrating that it is hard to enjoy what I thought would be appealing when the game is so... I can't really find the right word for it, but for example I shot a wolf from across the water. That wolf than started coming at me by swimming through the water. Just immediately has tracking for me after being shot across a lake. Okay whatever, no problem. Then said wolf starts swimming in circles and dipping underwater. I must check this out, jump in the water a bit and shoot the wolf. Great he's coming back to me again. Oh my god he has the swimming speed of a freaking shark. No problem let me just jump out of the water and grab my gun. No can do cause you rise out of water at the speed of grandma getting up from her nap.

This game has potential, but reiterate it needs extreme polishing. Games should be fun not frustrating. Getting past the first couple days is the hardest part of the game. I don't think thats the way it should be.

And where are the mods? Unreal engine can have great support for player content and we modders could make valuable changes to increase the appeal of this game.

Probably will try this out after I see some updates that hopefully fix some of my complaints with this game.

Probably the worst game I have played in years. Was excited cause it was free but it was unplayable for my friends and I. We start out a new game, yes I know this is the source engine but the game just felt awful. The maps are small and have zombies constantly spawning behind you. The gameplay is so stale, the hitboxes are a joke.

Worst of all 3 times in launching, within a few minutes my mouse would start going up and to the left with no way to stop it. Not it wasn't my mouse cause as soon as I press pause to regain control my mouse I have no issue. Go back into game and cannot aim for crap because it is moving up and to the left still. Good thing this was free cause I would've wanted my money back asap.

Spent $40 on the game, was extremely short. Not saying it was a bad game but hard to justify $40 and very frustrating seeing new levels released as DLC is rather frustrating.

The devs clearly put some time into the game and even though i don't like it at all i can't vote it down. I simply don't like the game cause its like loving chocolate ice cream and someone offers you vanilla. of course vanilla isn't bad but the whole time your eating the vanilla you just want the chocolate. the chocolate is smash bros.

how do even review a game thats not a game? it's a framework for installing mods for your desired gameplay.

I am 7.5 hours into this game. I am in love with the story and the mechanics and even if the rest of the game was trash I already got my moneys worth.
