Great Game for someone who doesn't normally enjoy Survival Games,

Resource Element of the Game

Never really a 'boring' moment as you constantly need to think about objectives, food, water and finding containers to improve yourself or your base. A con would be the sparse use of clean water until later into the game, which leads to you having medical 'abnomalities' by having to drink dirty water.

Base building element

Base building is OK. You have to worry about shared resources with other base members which lower their morale if you don't build the right base buildings (water, food and medical production facilities). Shooting hordes of Zombies/Wanderers at a distance with the stuff you found in containers while listening to previous MGS music is satisfying. A con would the unfortunate 'coin' payment to build additional explorer teams (who help gather resources) which can be bought with either Real money payments or waiting 50 days. At the beginning however you neither have the human or food/water/gear to have a secondary+ team unless you super grind, which really isn't worth it with intersecting story segments which change the game.

Exploring the world Element

Exploring in general is ok, the 'mist' can lead to very close encounters with zombies which can heighten the difficulty if not well prepared. Stealth is present and useful to avoid a pileup of zombies which can drain some ammo but if you are at a safe distance with a large amount of ammo then no real danger is present. The con would be that zombies can't climb which lowers the intensity but it seems it was intentional in the game.

Zombies or 'wanderers' can insta-kill you, which in my opinion is good because of the arsenal you have far outmatches a zombie at a distance with the right materials.

Game controversy

Don't care, if people really like playing video games then politics shouldn't be involved, I don't normally review but the hivemind of streamers and youtubers annoyed me a bit.
