Early Access Review
This game.

This game, man.

Over the years I check back once in a while to see MASSIVE content updates, and where this already justifies a $20 price tag, I'm begging you to get this game if you're curious to help support the dev's.

The loot generation is nuts, and the build variety is hella fun. In short, this game is super worth it if you like looter-shooters and is more than deserving of support and attention!

over the years this has provided me good, free fun. I can recommend this wholeheartedly, but I must warn you, that with only 15 minutes or less you can save 15% or more on car insurance with this jazz. Download accordingly.

I bought this on release over two years, and even still they're pushing out meaty updates every few months. The devs clearly love and intend to continue supporting this game.

The gameplay lends itself to feeling very tactical - you'll learn pretty quickly what assets can be shot over, and the hitboxes of those that cant, and i recommend that you're always next to cover in case things awry. The movement snaps, and feels precise - no weightyness or momentum. The aiming mechanics seem a little wonky at first, but it's mostly just a matter of learning when to stand still to shoot (which is most of the time).

There are so many guns, probably near 100, each of which can have manufacturer variants, rarity variants, ammo variants, random associated perks, etc. Meaning even if you technically got the same gun, the chances of it actually feeling and performing the same are astronomically slim. There's also about 100 items, some passive, some active. So the build variety is nuts, to say the least.

The sound design - abso-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-lutely fan-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-tastic. 'Nuff said.

The only qualm I have with this game is that I get a .25-.5 second stutter every 30 seconds or so, and that can honestly be very debilitating in the middle of a gun fight considering you can get ganked in that half second. This problem has persisted for me since launch.

Other than that, this is easily one of the most technically and mechanically satisfying roguelites available on steam. I was blown away when a friend showed me Sseth's review - It's a damn shame it took until now for many people so see it for what it's worth.

As it stands it's a little rough around the edges - ugly menus, complete lack of statistics, all sounds missing in the shop areas, the steam achievements are bugged - that being said, it's great little rogue-lite/match 3 brought to you by the doods behind TBOI, so it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ smashing good time. I've completed about 10 runs, and each one has been drastically different. Don't expect the same wealth of content from TBOI, but without question this is worth 15 bucks. Help support and give this game the attention it deserves to motivate Ed to add more content.
