A charming little game in the likeness of Banjo or old Spyro games, it's not terribly long even if you aim to 100% it (took me about 10 hours), but it's worth the asking price if you're into these sorts of 3D platformers. Most of the main collectible (eggs) can be collected regardless of power ups if you're in the same room as them, which the game will tell you. I only encountered a single exception to this while playing, and it's possible I didn't figure out the method to acquire it without the water breath upgrade (it was the one close to the prismatic palace entrance). Even tricky ones like the flaming egg in the airborne armada can be nabbed without the breath if you puzzle it out or know what to do.

The controls are mostly pretty good. While the dive-boosted jumps are a little clunky when you first get introduced to them, they're not essential to the game play experience. Some ramps in early areas are finicky, but they didn't cause major problems for me at least. Aiming and shooting water breath is pretty smooth and fires quickly, and the final upgrade of full-on flight is a lot of fun to play around with in the post-game challenge areas (no achievements tied to them).

The story is pretty small, but it's earnest and warm. Most probably wouldn't find it to veer into saccharine tones, but it is supposed to be a feel-good story. The antagonist is fairly distant, and the side character per area are all mostly one-note, but the game isn't trying to be deep so much as it's trying to be nostalgic (at least as far as I can tell). But if you're looking for nuanced characterization, you're probably not going to find it here. Only two characters have much layers to them at all, and even those are simple.

Most of the puzzles are fair, but some of the things you can do earlier than necessary (such as the flaming egg) can feel very frustrating. I didn't notice the breakable window in the ship for quite some time, so I wasted a lot of time running around the inside of the living-ship-man looking for a way to get a potion (the obvious solution) to the egg, just as an example. Missing a breakable piece of the floor can also lead to annoyance, and I don't think it's always visible enough.

All in all, it's fun for its target demographic, but if you're unfamiliar with the genre or generally not interested in it, it probably won't change your tune on it.

Spoilers below:

The best incremental game I've played despite many of its quirks and minor flaws. Many elements of the game are puzzle-like from certain challenges to some of the bosses in the game (especially The Nameless Ones). Things like the time studies tree is fun to play around with and master as you progress from the moment you unlock it. The added story elements after you unlock RM with actual dialog snippets adds a nice touch. Really makes you feel like this emerging force of nature. The destroyer. The credit music adds a nice layer to it as well, both alluding to the possibility that you'll restart the game and also giving a somber send off to the celestials.

It's also the only incremental game I know where at some point it simply hands you a rudimentary programming language and has you make your *own* automation. Really, the game gives you a lot of freedom to explore, and while the game may be an 'idle' game, there's often plenty of reason to be actively involved with it. If you need help, generally the discord has good resources (pre-made scripts, step-by-step guides), though I think for the best experience, one really should do at least some of the game on their own/blind.

Overall a great time. For a free game, one can get a lot of mileage out of it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something that's more art/puzzle than raw entertainment.

Games sometimes feels directionless, and the lightning bug/cicada puzzle in the second part of the game was frankly so tedious that I almost quit. It's scenic but lacks much in the way of substance for platforming or puzzle solving. Art and sound are amazing, but that's really all the game has going for it. I'd find the controls more satisfying if changing seasons didn't kill your momentum (even though the platforming is incredibly easy regardless). Only buy it if you're looking for more of an experience with art than an actual game.

The game occasionally stutters or long FPS dips but I have bad hardware so I always assume it's on my end in regards to games. The actual mechanics are serviceable and the characters look good, but there just feels like there's something missing from the experience or gameplay to warrant a purchase in its own right (that is to say, outside of the context of wanting the MLP/furry fighting game. It accomplishes that well enough for a purchase for those interested.). Has a good tutorial section. I debated over whether to recommend it or not, but ultimately felt it wasn't good enough in a vacuum. I still did enjoy it though. The characters are unique but I feel there'd need to be a couple more characters in the base game to justify the current price.

Early Access Review
Sword attack in the introductory dungeon is so agonizingly slow that it killed all desire for me to even attempt to learn how to play this game or improve. Why would you not make the experience for a new player something smooth- something actually enjoyable to control? I wanted to like this game, but this is probably among the worst first impressions I've ever gotten.
