I don't think this game could've come at a better time for me. I don't think I can even begin to illustrate why it's so perfect. Both for survival horror fans and for people seeking solace after the loss of a loved one. This game hurts in a way that reminds you you're still human, and I cannot tell you how devastatingly beautiful that is to me.

If you're looking for a reason to play it, then I'd simply suggest you experience it yourself. But otherwise, here's why I personally loved it.

The gameplay is intricate and incredibly well thought-out, it demands far more from you than most shooters or even most survival horror games. You won’t be able to breeze through this game or walk away with all the answers immediately. Signalis insists that you meet it on its own terms, not just in gameplay, but in story and art as well. The inventory management and puzzle mechanics will keep you on your toes, constantly planning your next move. You'll be forced to decide whether bringing a health pack or leaving an empty inventory slot could mean the difference between survival and being torn to pieces.

The sound design, music, and art style all serve the game’s themes: memory, sacrifice, and quiet grief. For a AAA title, the level of care and detail would already be impressive. But the fact that it was conjured into being by just two people makes it even more extraordinary. Rose Engine is nothing short of astonishing for creating this game.

Signalis is a genuine masterpiece. It makes me happy to be a survival horror fan, and I honestly think it’s helping me make peace with things I'm struggling with in my life right now,

This game in the last few weeks has honestly taken over my life and there are several reasons why, so if any of these things appeal to you I'd highly recommend you not only try the game, but play at least up until the second act to see if you enjoy it.

-There's so much variety despite only five main weapons that you're likely to not run out of new ways to pummel shoot dismember and eviscerate enemies throughout your entire playthrough.

-The difficulty even on harder modes (I started on Violent but there's also Standard Lenient and Brutal) is incredibly well paced and fair and there was nearly no point where I died and it wasn't just the result of a skill issue.

-The movement is so fluid and quick despite the levels being so large, and by the time you get every weapon you'll have learned to move through them even quicker to the point where a decent amount of the levels can be completed in under a minute.

-The atmosphere is suburb and constantly reminding you how out of your depth you are but also powerful you can be; along with that a ton of levels are just beautiful to look at and explore. After every fight you'll get a chance to admire how well crafted it is both despite and because of the lower poly art style.

-The tone of every level is going to be different from fighting your doppelganger DMC style to fighting a metal Kaiju you have to climb to kill, to fighting the Archangel Gabriel himself. Every level is different and it's mood is set so well by the music so quickly too.

-The story and lore is great, not in your face and easily skippable for those who only care about the gameplay but the lore presented through out will leave you enthralled if you have any interest in mythology or religious stories like the Divine Comedy. The lore on the Mannequins and how they form in the Forests of Violence and the relationship Archangel Gabriel has to Hell and the people in it like Charon the ferrymen is some of my favorite in any game.

Ultrakill is the perfect balance of lore gameplay and music which has given me a lot to focus on. (as well as really playing into my special interests around religion and mythology) If anything I've said has made this sound appealing I'd highly recommend you buy it especially because there's even more content to come out soon. I love this game.

I'd class this as a utility more then even a game, I've met several incredibly interesting people through VR Chat and I view it as personally responsible for why some of my friends can even interact with me so frequently. My only hope for this game is that I hope it stays of the same quality as it is now and gains even more players

The Majority of people in this game aren't trying to win in general. They're instead going for "saltiest racist gooner alive" award and it's a very competitive space.
