Beautiful, Straightforward, Enjoyable.

I played RedOut prior to this and was sorely dissapointed with how the ships controlled; floaty and loose. BallisticNG is much tighter, and less prone to collision. You can argue it's less skillful than RedOut, but BallisticNG still has a high skill-cap, and doesn't torment you with anti-fun racetracks. The polygonal art is absolutely stellar, too.

Cleverly made RNG puzzles that offer a balance of complexity and pleasant aesthetics.
Has a low barrier to entry and the unlocks are nice reward for the additional effort required to earn them.
(hint: water is op)

When I heard this described as a slow game, I assumed that meant "slow-paced". No, no, no. That's absolutely wrong. It means you're slow (and clunky), and everything else is normal speed.

Coming from a background of Dark Souls games, everything feels so wrong about the combat. Enemy shields, especially large enemies are impervious to your attacks. You can wait until they attack, but there's no real window for a counter attack afterwards. Unlike you, the player, enemies suffer no delay between finishing an attack and blocking. The design of enemies feels like there's only one "right" way to fight them, and your choices are irrelevant. Most of all, LotF is punishing, but without the sense of "I know how I exactly how I messed up" found in the Souls games. I wanted to like this as an off-shoot of the Souls-style games, but the combat feels like drowning: slow and dreadful.
