Finishing the main story, I'd say I'm quite satisfied.

Game has a few bugs, and a couple things need to be optimized. Frame rate in some cutscenes are horrific (down to 8, which threw off the sound and animations), but the next one is smooth as butta. A little weird, and it happened enough to lessen my experience of Henry's world.

Horseriding mechanics, I imagine, are hard to nail on the spot (especially when realism is the game's focus). It works, but thats about it. Very frustrating when navigating off the beaten path. Every bush and tree can knock you off your horse and send you tumbling to the ground in a falling animation, which would normally be fine but the animation itself is buggy as hell and if unlucky it bugs out for 10-20 seconds (falling through the map two times). But I got used to it eventually and slowed down to get through bushy/forested areas, rather than try to plow through them.

Experienced 2 hard crashes, both made me absolutely furious given the saving system of the game (I actually like the saving system. It adds weight to your in game choices and is definitely unique. But when the game crashes, expect to lose 20-90 min of progress depending on when the game saved last). Not a dealbreaker overall for me, it happens with every game. I'd be more angry if this happened more than 3-4 times, but it should still be mentioned.

2 Main story quests were bugged to hell, the AI basically broke (both friendly and foe) and I had to retry multiple times to try to trigger the next part of the quest.

The "World" is a good size, though not the size of other similar titles. With a smaller world, I wish more "little things" were done in establishing it. Other than around 5-8 unique fast travel wayfarer events (which get repetitive, you end up skipping all of them by mid game), there are very little travellers you'll meet out in the world. I've come across maybe 4 lone travellers during my first 70 hr playthrough, none of which had anything interesting to say or sell. The game mentions how a caravan full of gold/food got robbed and you have to go investigate it, but you never actually see any of them out in the world. Imagine seeing those shipments and you have the choice of robbing or defending them! The world looks amazing, I just wish there were more things inhabiting it (birds, bugs, travelling peddlers, caravans, etc.) other than the hunting animals. I did see a couple fireflies at night, but thats it.

Once you get the hang of the game, you start making more money than you know what to do with. It doesnt cost much to deck yourself out with the best armor, weapons, and horse equipment. After that, you're basically playing in god mode and can wreck entire groups of enemies as long as you have a good understanding of the combat system. I ran out of things to buy at around the half-way point of the game. I wish there were some insanely expensive (10k+) equipment items or properties to buy so I could have done something with my overflowing sack of cash (above 100k).

Looks like the dev's ditched polearms. They are an item in the game (theres even a polearm trainer) but you cant do much with them other than a wonky slash attack. Would have been interesting to see how spears and pikes could have been implemented in the combat system.

Mounted Combat is a joke

Combos are a joke. Unskilled opponents will die before you finish the sequence, and skilled opponents will riposte every combo attempt and counter you with their own, usually killing you or bringing you close to it. Other than the tutorial I think I pulled off 1 or 2 complete combos throughout the entire game.

BUT

-The game looks beautiful
-Great music, good sound, good voice acting
-Character models, animations, and habits/routines seem pretty well done and unique.
-RPG mechanics are done pretty well overall
-Combat is difficult but rewarding. Even in the best gear, I almost died mutiple times in the large battle sequences because of one mistake.
-Stealth and Speech are extremely useful throughout the game's entirety
-Archery is very hard to get used to, but it helps immensely early in the game (1 early game arrow does around the damage of 4-6 early game melee hits. It helps a lot when you can sneak an arrow or two before charging with your melee weapon)
-Story is well done once it gets going
-One of the better "realistic" games in recent memory, especially in this genre.
-Drinking is a skill. Its lit fam

Do some research and watch some videos to know whether or not you are going to like this game. If you're completely unsure, I'd wait for a sale. Even with all of the cons, I still enjoyed my time with it. I'll eventually play through it again and make some different choices, but i'll definitely continue playing through all the side quests and activities I didnt finish.

Welp, time to wait for Bannerlord...

PS
I can't wait to see what mod developers do with this game :O
