There's an extremely easy way to fix this game and increase its playability: Prevent the player from accessing the secret room from the beginning, and only let them in once they learn of its existence. I honestly wanted to play through the whole game legitimately, but the temptation was too great AND too easy.

If the devs patch in that limitation, then all will probably be well.
