Honestly I’ve been away from gaming for a few years now, occasionally picking up some games on Steam sales from time to time, but never actually playing them.

This game caught my eye, I bought it to try it out and got really surprised.

I feel Surroundead reignited a missing spark I had for gaming, It gave me that same feeling I had as a kid, playing and discovering PS2 games for the first time.

I read some comments before saying the game doesn't have much content or many things to do, but I couldn’t disagree more. The map is not huge, but it's very diverse, the locations actually feel different, and exploring them is genuinely fun and rewarding. The gameplay loop is simple and fun, but also has a lot of different small mechanics, and learning them feels great.

This is definitely not a game to start playing with a “How to” guide on a second monitor, the beauty here is the journey of learning and experiencing. Discovering places, mechanics, enemies and gear feels so rewarding because nothing gets thrown at you, you get to enjoy the process of improving.

The game is still in Early Access but the Single Dev is super active, constantly updating the game and interacting with the community through Reddit.


I usually don’t write reviews but I feel genuinely happy being able to experience this after such a long time. It’s beautiful to see the dev working on his craft with so much passion and care.
