This is pretty much what should have shipped with the original game. Direct upgrade in all ways to the original. The big problem is that the ending is quite literally one of the worst endings of all time. Not even being hyperbolic, it is easily one of the worst. It ruins all good points this game had. I can understand the devs were trying something with the ending, but there’s a limit. You’ll have fun with 90% of the game but its the last 10% ruins it.

This game starts off strong, the music in the game is top notch. The visuals are pixels but are well thought out and designed. On visual and sounds this would be a 10/10. However when it comes to gameplay, the game falls far below the bar.

Three things stand out by far.

First is a Lack of Information. It has no place in the mistake punishing difficulty of the game. There's no way in knowing what your paying for until you paid for it, and many times It can spell the end of your playthrough.

Second is the Lack of control, you have no control over your citizens, they merely pick jobs and do their own thing. A lack of control is ok, however when they are doing suicidally stupid decisions I can’t help but want some sort of control.

Finally, is the stale gameplay. It needs something to mix things up from time to time. Its just, Build>Defend>Build with little else. You don't really have a chance to be creative with defense, or building.

In all this game is fantasic for its looks and sound, but a game is still a game and no matter how it looks It needs to have good gameplay.

Skullgirls is a wonderfully fun and entertaining fighting game.
From the first moment I started playing I have enjoyed every minute of it. The characters are unique, the story is rich, and the game play is very well done. In fact in nearly every category I would give skull girls a 10/10.

The few parts that need improvement is the campaign. Like said the story is very deep and engaging. Only problem is the campaign makes you feel like you've only scratched the surface of the story. I would love to see some sort of story improvement that would give us more story.

The second issue would be the difficulty, the game was designed for professional fighting game players. So normal mode is actually quite difficult.

Finally one of note is the support for the game. They are very quick to fix bugs and issues and new characters are actually free for a few weeks after release! This game is a great time waster and you will likely be coming back to it many times.

Pros
  • Very good graphics and animation.
  • Excellent story.
  • Great game support

    Cons
  • Difficulty is higher than normal.
  • Not enough story is given in the game.

This game is very, very, very, unfinished.

I came to this game because of titan mode that seemed like a interesting concept. While this is true, I cannot think of any other thing that this game did well. Half the game is missing, and due to this many elements of the game become useless after a point. The first issue is very apparent from the first match on wards, Lag. Both graphical and Network lag happens all the time. This game boasts a very low system requirements, This is untrue. I am at the high end of their Minimum-Suggested Requirements and the game was unplayable even at the lowest settings. I had to edit the ini files and turn off everything to actually get the game to work at a reasonable frame rate.

Beyond this the lag persists in it's other form. Network lag is very apparent during the match. Often I find my character “rubber banding” forward and back as I walk, and have even gotten teleported back a few feet because the server said I got caught on some geometry while the client didn't. This brings me to the next issue. The maps are littered with places you can get stuck or caught on. I can understand this is an alpha game but with no way as far as I can see to force respawn yourself this becomes a major issue. And the issue of respawning continues the issues as there is no way to change your build without suicide. This became another serious issue in Horde mode where if you click the wrong button(something that I did while trying to get to the build select menu), you are stuck in that build till everyone dies on the map or the round restarts(given you thew yourself on the enemy).

About a third of the time I start up the game, and it crashes at some point within the first 30 seconds. The issues do not stop there. While in a party with my friends if we leave a match the party host has the restart the game in order to re invite us to play again. Many times I find the weapon description Missing as if it failed to load. Clicking on it multiple times eventually get's it to appear. The game Itself is just as broken. There are many parts of the game that don't seem to be balanced. The titans for instance seem to take random chunks out of each others health. The drop system is another concern, if you kill a player the loot from them drops at the corpse. This means both a teammate who had not fired a shot can steal all your items. This also means long range builds(such a sniping) becomes worthless as you don't get the items you need to upgrade. (you do get weapon upgrades through kills but no armor upgrades). Speaking of upgrades the crafting system in the game needs a MAJOR overhaul. Currently when you join a game your first job is not to see what you can do for the team but rather to open the crafting menu and start crafting up your armor. Armor crafting should be automatic.

This leaves me with the biggest issues I have with the game.
First is the Bots. In games if there are not enough players bots fills the slots. While this is somewhat ok, the bots are what like to call “cheating bots”. These bots are low quality bots that cheat to compete with players. Many times I've turned corners to have bots waiting for me. Or going along when a bot decides that I should die and starting hitting me from across the map with perfect accuracy. This makes any element of stealth impossible. Secondly, the name Minimum, way too common of a word. You try to Google search anything related with this game and half the results are for other things. A Third big issue for me is the Controls. When I play I often throw a grenade on the ground quickly. However when I quickly move my mouse down the camera go up rather than down! Beyond this the third person is not done correctly as your character is often blocking your view and enemies can spot you while you can't see them. A first person mode is badly needed for this game. The final and biggest travesty is the fact shots keep disappearing! Many times I've shot, or thrown a grenade and the projectile either disappears in flight or just does not appear! In a shooter this a very bad problem one that should never be seen alpha or not.

To put it simple this game might be fun when it's done but in it's current state, do not buy. Wait till it's done.

The game Is good on the outside and I spent many hours in it. However as you get into the game, I found that the game developers themselves are not in it to make a game, just to make money. Massive bugs, broken game mechanics, and deceptive tactics are to name a few. In the midst of this they where making expansions too add more cards to buy, while the game was in beta. They broke immersion of the game to put star trek cards in the game(that are naturally more powerful than regular cards). Support for the game is abysmally terrible, I went THREE MONTHS trying to fix an issue that should have taken three minutes, and the problem is now even worse in the game. The last email on the issue is “The Management Team has not yet made a decision.” If you want to play this game, you will enjoy it for at least a while. However, expect it to get old quickly, but don't put any money into it. Because if anything happens don't expect support to help you.

Early Access Review
If you have sensitive hearing do not play this game. They play a low humming while playing that drove me mad. Beyond this the game Is a unique idea done basic. The game play is good and it is a fun game to play. It just needs that sound gone.

If you like shooters it's okay. If you like F.E.A.R. it's bad.

This game should have never been called fear. I say this not just for the spurious representation of the classic fear games, but for the fact the game is not scary. The original fear is in my option a revolutionary game, the level of detail and thought put into it was tremendous. This game however has little to none to connect this to the original fear. The Replicants are gone. The invisible assassins are gone. This does not seem to be a fear game, and that is a good way to put it as this game seems more like another. Call of duty clone is not a term that should be used likely but the similarities are far too obvious, nearly all of the original mechanics of fear(health/armor, specialized weapons) have been torn out to put in call of duty mechanics(health regeneration, riot shield, flash grenades.).

The first level says it all for me. I start crawling through the jail not sure what going to happen when I realized. It's too bright. The first “scare” was little more than an special effect and Alma saying hello. Next a power failure, finally some scary scenes. However before one jump scare the lights come back on. Finally, I as the middle of a firefight when I see an enemy above me on a catwalk. My thoughts went as follows. “Crud, im going to have to walk around to get at him.. wait, this a fear game, there quality games, I should be able to shoot through the floor!” this is when I realized this is no fear game.

And it really isn’t a fear game. Like the other fear games, it was not made on the LithTech engine. This engine gave fear so much more than other games. I already notice several missing refinements. The levels where sloppy. In the first you knew what way to go. It gave you plenty of lighting hints movements and other cues to push you in the right direction. I got lost many times in this one.

Lastly the story, to be honest, If you did not play Fear 2 you would not care about 70% of this story. Truthfully If point man where to just walk away the same ending would have happened. There are many issues with the story that I could argue but I think the main issue I had was Alma. All the way through the fear games Alma has been set as a boogeyman. And even though a new creep one was created for this she is still this silent super being, beging in the shadows in the first game was okay. This was the story of the story, but now that we have reached the end her character barely develops from being a bump in the night.
