Strong contender for new favorite game of all time.

This game is such a love letter to the Megaman franchise, from top to bottom. Every time I play through I notice more homages to level or enemy designs from past games. The game takes the format of "fight 8 bosses" and plays with it in such a wonderful way. Each stage is a gem, and I don't think I could pick a favorite. From the music to the visuals to the platforming itself, I had a ball the entire time I was playing.

But while it certainly draws from Megaman, I never once found it derivative or uninspired. This game oozes charm, from the characters to the spritework to the sillier achievements. You can just really tell that a lot of love was put into the making of this game. And it shows! The game is polished to hell and back, I didn't run into any issues, even minor, over four playthroughs.

I really, really loved going through this and just feeling the joy and passion that went into it. I cannot recommend this game enough.

Good gravy, I can't believe I didn't get this sooner. An absolute delight to play, and it makes me want to go find and play a copy of its Pokemon inspiration. The artstyle is wonderful, with the 2d designs mechanically working very well (always facing the camera, so they always have decent visibility). The story is a joy to explore, and you can entirely ignore if you want. I'm ending my first day with the game beaten, but most of the game still unseen. I'm excited to take my time and finish this little gem.

this game rocks my socks. most space games, especially survival open world ones, are too precise, everything is too complex. this game is wonderful in that its only as complex as you make it yourself. its fun, its nice to play with friends, and its colorful and cute.

This game has it all---unique graphics, hours of content, and enough enemies and items to make a collector ascend directly to heaven. I picked up the game years ago to play with a buddy of mine, and I haven't regretted it even once.

This game has a lot to bring to the table---fun characters, dialogue, missions, even the flavor text is filled to the brim with personality and references. It's a shooter that plays well and has a fantastic sense of humor. While the game has a plethora of purchasable DLC, the game is more than complete in its base form. I have the game and most of the DLC and I have well over 200 hours on it (even if some of those were me wandering away to get food). The game knows exactly what tone it is aiming for and does it well. Overall, it's a very solid entry in the series and a decent starting point, as knowledge of Borderlands 1 is not really needed to enjoy this game to the fullest. I would recommend this game to just about anyone.
