A nod to the classic deathmatch days but a gamechangng twist to bring the genre to the future. Demon runes can make this game as tense as any other and swing the overall score from an almost certain loss. Lots of fun, not terribly e-sportsy yet.

A lot of real oldschool quakers will mourn the lack of rocket jumps and bunnyhopping that became iconic of the quake series. But fingers crossed a DLC will open the game up to different styles of play.

Judging this game of Doom on its own merits, I would say it's a very enjoyable successful revival.
