This is a crazy game that I haven't heard of til now. Some of the skills look really familiar, so maybe there was a feature showcase in one of the game shows a few years ago, but wow this game is really good.

We already have a solid game here about the 10-15$ level. If they add more pinnacle bosses, more skills, more classes, this could be really fun roguelike. I think they should also add some dream-multipliers rather than just increasing the stats of all of the mobs when doing dream repeats. I personally thought this type of boring repetitive stage completion that RoR did is what made RoR boring, and I hope they do something creative with it.

Edit: Wanted to make an update. I'm still thinking about this game 6 months later, and my original post seems a bit too analytical. This is honestly one of the best games I've ever played in my life. I came into this game unsure if I would even like this type of game and picked it up on a random weekend after the release. And here I am now. I hope this game wins tons of awards as they took tons of risks that paid off heavily in a way that I hope more studios get inspired by what Sandfall did with this game.

This game is amazing in a lot of ways. Almost too good that it's frustrating when you see areas that are lacking. There's minor spoilers. The tl;dr is that this game is amazing and you should play it. It's best to approach this game with very little knowledge of the game, as most of it you will learn as you play the game, and not having spoilers, i think, is essential to the enjoyment of this game.

The Great:
- Visual Storytelling, the way the story is told in general through the UI, text, and cutscenes are done phenomenally. I never felt like I wanted to skip dialogue at any point in the game as someone who has skipped a lot of dialogue in other games.
- Lighting engine and camera movement is so good that cutscenes almost feel like movies sometimes.
- The small texture details are really good.
- Voice acting is incredible. The English dub was so amazing that I still can't believe people cope with English dubbed anime. The French Dub also sounded pretty close in tone with the English Dub from the few clips I watched online.
- UI is definitely Persona inspired, and it's done really well. It's also amazing how you basically have no UI when you're walking around, so it feels really immersive.
- The parrying is super satisfying when you get it right
- Boss fight designs as a whole is super well done. There's specific attack patterns I wasn't a fan of. More on that later.
- When playing through the game, I personally suggest just blasting through the main story without doing much of the side content until after. It keeps things challenging and the story flows really well that way.
- Lots of fun little easter eggs and homages to other famous games.
- Side quest quality is just as incredible as the main story.
- If you're good enough, you can beat almost every boss in the game even with a crappy team.

The Ok:
- Story. The story overall outline and flow reminded me of kinda how Nier Automata is (I only watched the anime, didn't play the game). It has a lot of depth in a different way than Nier's more philosophical approach. I think in some places in the story, the characters kinda felt a little shallow in certain places (in particular act1). It almost felt like the characters didn't really take the Gommage seriously sometimes. But overall, it's a good balance between a compelling story and having good gameplay.
- Post-Main story, I feel like it's too easy to make your characters start one shotting everything. I don't know if this is a good thing or not because I don't really feel motivated to learn a fight if I know I can one shot everything. Granblue Fantasy: Relink tries to solve this by having multiple limit break thresholds, but that's not necessarily a better solution.
- I wish there were better ways to farm for Lumina after you beat the game. I don't think grinding the same mob with a flag reset (or doing the merchant fight) over and over again is good gameplay in order to make your characters ridiculously strong once you've already completely beat the game.
- Why are there a limited number of Perfect Chromas? Or maybe nobody discovered how to do it yet.
- Maelle's Eyes look all messed up in the beginning. At the end of the story, they look fine.
- Map layouts aren't that great sometimes, and backtracking is very annoying sometimes. very few cases though.

The Bad:
- Default Mouse Sensitivity is incredibly high
- Motion Blur is turned on by default, and with the high mouse sens looks really bad.
- Pressing WASD on keyboard, you cannot use this to navigate the UI when your mouse is moving. For example, if you click E to go to "skills" during a battle, if your mouse is moving at the same time, you won't be able to go into that menu. This took me a good few hours to realize why I had to multi-click it several times. Same thing also happens on the Map. (They fixed this 5/9 patch)
- Parry Timings and Approach. There's a good number of attacks in this game that kind of feel like it would be impossible for anyone to learn on the first try and requires you to memorize the attack pattern. I personally think all of the Parries should have some sort of indication of how the attack will approach. A good example is like a lot of the ranged attacks have a "suck in" animation before it fires, which is generally how you time those attacks, which is great. A bad example is like the ice/fire sword guy. The first attack of the Ice stance is basically just a memory gimmick, which is very annoying. All the characters that have a very long wind up time, where the character just slowly winds up, but quickly attacks you at some point don't have a very good indicator. Some have a brief "freeze time" before they attack, but not all of them do that. And even the actual timing after they freeze varies from character to character, so there's not much consistency there. Some attacks that have a "rhythmic" pattern also aren't exactly rhythmic. For example, the Nevron with 2 swords and spins. You'll see the 2 swords light up and make a sound, but the actual attack doesn't follow that rhythm and actually hits you slightly later, which gave me a lot of frustration learning the timing. I think this is the make or break for some people, and I think the fact that some people are installing mods to help with the standard difficulty proves my point. Also - Almost every fist fighter in this game have terrible parry timing indicators.

Early Access Review
The game is pretty addicting and fun. Although, I think the current state will have 2 problems it'll have to face.

Police in this game is kind of a joke in its current state. However, I think increasing the difficulty will make it more annoying for most players. There could be a lot of interesting mechanics they could add with how the police AI is, but it'll be hard thing to balance.

Once you reach the point where you've automated something in the Bungalow, you've pretty much beat the game. Past that point, it's pretty dull and repetitive after that as there's no real new content, just building larger automations for the sake of more money. A glorified cookie clicker.

Because automation in this game is kinda barebones and finnicky right now, you end up spending a majority of your time as a solo player trying to buy mixables and moving them to cabinets with very limited space.

I think the current balance of the game, mixing is not great, and you're better off mass producing base-weed.

The game is fun to just kinda ♥♥♥♥ around, but after one playthrough, I don't know how the dev will make transformative content to make people come back to do another playthrough.
