In this game you can't type China and Taiwan in the same sentence in game chat. Other "offensive" terms include "winnie the pooh", "CCP" and "Free Hong Kong".

Reviewing a game after just over one hour is a bit harsh but as an avid fan of "The Movies" and movies in general I really wanted this game to be good. However because of the simplicity of the game, I currently can't recommend it.

Firstly the actual film making part is a bit too simplified even compared with The Movies. The ability to place your actors anywhere in the scene is a welcome change but because of the limited amount of animations, the whole thing feels a bit "cheap" compared to the movies. Although you're able to place benches and chairs in the set builder, there are no animations to use these. It's also not possible to move your actors in the Z (height axis) to place them on top of objects. This along with the limited camera moves available makes the film making aspect of this game kinda lacking. Maybe it is possible to unlock more later on however at this time it isn't clear.

The set builder and is an interesting and great addition to this game and the integration with steam workshop is an amazing move to make the community part of the creating process. However currently it seems like you're only able to construct a 3 walled set. You're able to do a lot of create stuff using a simple 3 walled set, but it is a far cry from the war torn streets and wild west streets we had in The Movies.

Finally, I miss the connection to history that The Movies gave us using the radio announcers and world events to influence what movies were popular and what research was available. As a film history buff I want to be able to create german expressionistic films in the 1920s, Musicals in the 1930s, ect, ect.

Did not expect much going in but was really pleasantly surprised by how much fun this game was! Definitely reminds me of overcooked but prefer this one by far, the setting and perspective (fps) changes up the gameplay a lot in a positive way.

The levels were well designed and the difficulty curve scaled well with each level that though hard, didn't feel insurmountable.

Highly recommend if you want a super fun co op game to kill a couple of hours with!
