Half-Life Alyx looks very similar, maybe lacking a few graphical innovations (like ray reconstruction and all that other bull) and performs about 5 times better. Not good.

3080, 1440p, DLSS Auto on Ultra and I'm averaging about 15 - 30 FPS, embarrassing.

A game like Half-Life 2 deserves better than terrible optimisation, blurry over-sharpened graphics and lack of proper care.

I understand that it's a small team working behind this, but even so, NVIDIA keeps pushing and marketing this like there's no tomorrow, they could at the very least let them work on the project until it's ready. Unless you have a 4080 ~ maybe 4070 Ti Super, you're not going to have a great experience. Which is a shame, this project showed a lot of promise, and looked great; but until it's in a playable state for those who don't have the most high-end gaming rigs, I wouldn't bother.

This is a hilarious and great game to play with friends or with randoms. The meetings, tasks, and general proximity chat between players, co-workers, manager and slackers are nothing short of comedy gold!

However the game is not perfect; constantly disconnecting from lobbies as your winning is not fun at all, I also think that specialists shouldn't be able to do certain slacker-ish actions, or at least some prevention of it should be implemented. It's funny with friends but in public lobbies I think it should have an option for disabling some mechanics of some sorts. Having random Specialists troll and lock all the doors while the Host seemingly does nothing is very frustrating at times, or constantly spamming/filling the printers with slurs or swastikas; anything alike.

I hate this game with a passion

Boy oh boy, where do we begin.

First off, game as a whole rn, I'd give it a 9/10. This is the same caliber such as Friday Night Funkin. The amount of fun and satisfaction this gives you after grinding a hard level or just simply progressing through the game, managing to straight fly on a wave of a ship... Astonishing feeling, but what really drives me a lot (besides the community of course) is the music for the official levels. Not even in AAA games do you listen to such high caliber of music. It's hard for me to not bop my head everytime I listen to something fire such as deadlocked, clubstep, clutterfunk, xStep, Fingerdash, electrodynamix, can't let go, clutterfunk. Not only for the official levels, but most of what the community made levels use, such as xtrullor, f-777, waterflame, Dimrain47.
Music Verdict - 10/10, every song is a banger
When we talk fun and enjoyment, this is questionable and depends, I personally have fun in this game even if I die a lot, just making tiny bits of progress, building muscle memory, it is sick, and then there's the satisfaction of beating a level you grinded, or just the satisfaction of the game syncing to the music/beat, however, this doesn't translate to many people, and to some it is even a rage game (not that I judge, game does get a little frustrating sometimes).
Fun Verdict (varies from person to person) - 8/10
Story wise, there's not very much to talk about. There's teeny tiny bit of lore but that's really about it, however, 2.2 looks like will offer more to the story (that's very far away tho)

Is the game old, dated, stopped receiving updates? Yesn't. Although Robtop (developer) has been teasing 2.2 for half a decade now, the community is still making incredible levels and impresses me to this day. I've been playing this game for a while now (even though i'm a scrub and main mobile), and the user levels have never been better. The dedication some of these mappers have is incredible.

All in all, i'd give this game a 9/10. It isn't exactly for everyone, but if you get into it, you REALLY get into it.

The wildest ride of them all. One match you're having the time of your life with friends, the other you're dying over and over again, or you have low trust factor, and you end up crying to lord gaben for a rankup and instead you derank :)
