After finishing Ep 7&8 that was 10/10. Top quality last few episodes. Had some hesitations early on when it seemed like there weren't that many decisions (~5 per Ep) and whether quicktime events made any narrative difference. Nevertheless story and gameplay was excellent.

Multi is hectic and campaign missions are cinematic as hell.
Map sizes aren't very large despite even with vehicles and challenges definitely need refinement. Removal of progression in PORTAL change is questionable,

Long time fan since CIV3 but can't say I would recommend this at present. 6/10 as of release week.

Pros:
- New Commander system for Armies/Fleets make unit mobility and combat a lot of fun once getting the hang of it.
- Mid Age gameplay definitely has the classic Civ appeal which makes it hard to put down.
- Diplomacy resource in politics is makes it interesting and has potential.

Cons:
- Soft-reset each Age (twice in a playthrough) is definitely jarring and detracts from the connection between Leader/Nation and progress. Only a handful of "ageless" items carry over; lose most units, conflict status, momentum. Ie. if you have a nation on the backfoot on the brink of capture but the Age ticks over, your units disappear and reset back to home soil next era.
- No "Just one more turn" option anymore after Victory/Endgame/Age.
- UI sometimes stacks and text spacing is odd/squashed. Overall feels simplified and console designed.
- Regression in match setup, no description and less options for map size/leaders/advanced settings.
- The small pool of the absolute strangest selection of historical figures.
- City/citizen management display and resource allocation is pretty messy and pretty tedious. Does not add to the luxury resource design and just becomes the 10th popup that gets repetitive if building wide.
- Victory conditions being an odd quest chain with very little post-game summary in.

Came in really excited to try the new Age system but after a full play-through; it is an overall regression compared to CIV5.
Hopefully I can revise this to a Recommend in future updates.

Getting significant frame drops on 3080 even when dropped to Low Settings. Seeing tanks bounce through the air like toys, join squad bugs, invisible floor and clipping in terrain.
Maybe after some significant optimisation patches and discount.

Pretty good WW1 resource management sim. A lot like Frostpunk in terms of event popup options and how quickly resource and casualty issues can stack up.
The Patient rank/biography profile was a bit misleading at first, their frontline combat point value is based on the 1-3 red chevrons; completely separate to whether they are a Private->Colonel.

The tutorial isn't bad. Tip for new players:
- Resources from the train aren't good value, much better to produce what you need.
- Be very careful with VIPs

With all the quest-like events it also became beneficial to have a few post-rehab patients held in 'waiting 'before you pick where to send them off to.
Couple bugs with overlapping event popups blocking each other but tabbing out and reloading the save did the trick.
Overall 7/10 at release patch.

I see absolutely zero need for a battlepass or paid DLC for a chair.
But with that out of the way, RT is an absolute masterpiece. Story, lore, characters, environments and weapons are really well done. Melta, plasma and bolter weapons finding their mark are satisfying than ever. Great to see Tzeentch getting some attention too. At present there are a couple builds that just make combat an absolute steamroll even against bosses but I would expect patches to come. Narrative elements and decision making also feels very consequential at times. Must have for BG3 / 40k TTRPG fans, you will love it. Personally I have not encountered any bugs or performance issues (3080) mentioned by others. Highly recommend even at $70AUD.
