It's just like the first one. But better.

This is a great introductory souls game, mechanics are polished, combat is much more fluid, and the optimization is quite amazing. Due to all these things, the game is a bit more user-friendly.

That being said, if you really enjoyed the first Dark Souls, this may not be the game for you. Being made by a different design team than the first game, the mechanics are, in-fact, different. If you are looking for a game similar to the first, maybe waiting for Dark Souls 3 is a better option.
