Overall this game is super fun, for veteran RPG'ers, or those just looking to get their feet wet in the genre.

In terms of DnD mechanics, I've heard some say the combat is very easy if you're experienced with DnD. I can't speak for that, but as someone who's never played, the game provides you with a nice learning curve for the mechanics, especially on the easier difficulties. The combat, ability, movement, and character building/management UI are incredibly well done and easy to learn with.

On top of that, the story and visuals are both are stellar, I would say unmatched in the market.

For the story, there are many diverging pathways that suit various playstyles, so the base game, which is maybe 150h for a thorough playthrough, has substantial replay value as well.

The visuals are unmatched, especially in the characters and NPCs; you really feel their emotion in cutscenes. The mocap and facial animations are the most convincing I've ever seen.

I will say that at 4K resolution, max settings, it brings my 4090 to its knees, but I've heard it's actually not super hard to run on mid-tier hardware. Probably at 1080p it'll run fine on high 20 / middle 30/40 series.

Overall, Larian has delivered a terrifically polished and thought-through game, and I highly recommend it to fans of the RPG genre, of any experience level :) it is worth the price many times over.

Hacknet... I don't even know where to start with this game.

Hacknet is not your average game. Some games may be incredibly immersive, like FPSes and VR games. Hacknet is not designed to be like this.

In most cases, Hacknet is also not an intense game. You aren't tested on your reaction time or click speed. You are tested, instead, on your abilities to adapt to different environments and solve problems as they pop up in your face.

Hacknet is also not what I'd consider a Christian game. Although there are few swear words to be found in the game (minus the IRC logs), Hacknet's plot involves learning to be a hacker using a simplistic set of Unix-inspired tools and a combination of a GUI and terminal environment.

When you start the game, you may not be incredibly impressed with the low amount of character development, as the basis of the game is just learning to use your environment, but you will eventually learn that a repetitive element of the game becomes a major part of the plot.

Even as shown by the creator's development timelapse (available to view at the end of the game), this game is not incredibly complex, but hours upon hours of work have been put into it and the average gamer will gain hours of fun.

To summarize the game as a whole, Hacknet is about diving into a world that is not your own and helping to fulfill an uncannily skilled hacker's death wishes. You learn to take advantage of a user environment known as the Hacknet OS and join several virtual hacker groups in an attempt to follow breadcrumbs left behind by Bit.

The soundtrack is co-written by several somewhat popular artists. It is dynamic to your actions in the game, having more intense music being played in more intense missions, and likewise for calmer, more reflective portions of the game. (If you loved the soundtrack as much as I did, please be sure to purchase it as DLC. It's available in the game folder after purchasing and downloading. My favorite tracks are Broken Boy and Bit.)

I am not a game critic, simply a lowly gamer. But the impact this game has had on my life is incredible. The plot is masterfully crafted and better than any movie I've ever watched. The graphics, although simple, are fancy enough to fit the experience (although epileptic persons may want to avoid the end of the game). As I have described, the soundtrack is amazing. Everything about this game makes it worth at least a couple hours away from Fortnite.
