very fun, and the setting is amazing. great scenery and radio, nice voice acting, good co-op, and gunplay. I really liked this game.

I love this game,
I've played since beta 2.x when I purchased the gold upgrade. That said, I have had some major issues with the game since the release of 3.0 that I haven't seen addressed by Nelson. Were it not for these issues, I would be enjoying this game today, so I'll air them out here.

Inventory
in a survival crafting game with PvP, one of the most important core elements is the inventory. Nearly everything in the game makes a pass through your inventory in one way or another, so it should be the most seamless part of the game but unfortunately it's not. Something about the coding framework used to handle inventory manipulation causes a little bit of lag at every turn. Grabbing an item has a delay, placing the item has a delay, rotating the item has a delay. It is a slight and constant irritation like a gnat hovering in your face. As well, hotkeys just aren't up to par with other games in the genre. If there's a way to hotkey an item directly into a chest I haven't found it. And if there is, that is its own problem. Hotkeys should be readily apparent where they are needed.
My final gripe about the inventory may just be a personal thing, but it is also heavily influenced by the delay on all actions: I don't like the tetris inventory. It bogs down part of the game that I want to spend the least time on, organizing my inventory. Every time I play, it feels unmanageable to maintain a tidy backpack because the items are constantly changing positions with use, especially in PvP where speed is key. Items don't stack so when you need 20 of several different things at once, you better believe you'll be clicking every one of them individually. It's a nightmare.

edit: I remembered that double clicking an item transfers it to a chest, but I just don't like that. Too many clicks, too cumbersome, especially without item stacking.

Skills
The skill system is just not very fun I'm sorry to say. It takes too long to grind xp and work your way through the tree only for half of it to be lost on a single death. On top of that, zombies have only gotten stronger over the years making death more frequent, while players have stayed at roughly the same power level (if not lowered). I would prefer to see something where death is punished less severely, even if it means having to grind a bit more. And also for skills to feel more meaningful. All of them are passive bonuses at the moment. Having active effects unlocked by skills is very satisfying, like learning to double jump, or a new way to swing your favorite weapons. I hope this system is entirely revamped for the next Unturned game, or at least a future update of this one.

Crafting
I really hope Nelson will overhaul the crafting menu. Maybe 80% of the screen space is wasted by making every recipe its own row that stretches across the entire screen, and the readability of these rows is lacking. It's hard to tell what recipe you should click to get what you want sometimes, and, if you choose incorrectly, you might be back out for a 15 minute grind (like if you accidentally salvage your gun instead of repairing it).
If I were to design the crafting ui to my liking, each recipe would be a single icon showing what is made by the recipe, and hovering over it would show the ingredients. Clicking the recipe once would pin the recipe to be displayed on the side of the crafting menu. Salvaging would not be anywhere near the crafting menu, it would be a separate one. It should be extremely hard to mistakenly break down an item that takes a while to get. Repairing would be a separate menu as well, perhaps only accessible at some kind of repair or crafting station and, if that were the case, things would generally take longer to break, and wouldn't get weaker at lower durability.

My intention here isn't to rag on a game to sound cool, or to try to bring this game down. I really do enjoy this game and I would love to see it improve in these areas. I hope Nelson will read this with the intent with which it was written.

Take Two/Gearbox is attempting to strong arm players into signing a new license agreement saying they forfeit their personal information to Take Two, as well as a forced-arbitration clause. They want to ban players for using mods, they want to ban players for spreading information about bugs in their game ( a time honored tradition of borderlands and all games ). They want all of this without providing anything in return...
These are pier to pier multiplayer games. Take Two provides no meaningful online services, and the game could operate perfectly without them. The only leverage they have is that we only own a license to our copy of the game, not the copy itself, and they want to take full advantage of this to abuse their customer base for profit. I won't have it. I won't be buying borderlands 4. In fact I'd like nothing more than to see the company fail and die permanently. Sorry not sorry.

I tried to play this in 2014. Played through probably 30 hours of story only to get save-locked by the weapon durability/crafting system. It was fun but that left a sour taste in my mouth and I haven't wanted to take it seriously since.

Awesome, classic game

is what I would have said a month ago.
