Probably the pinnacle of 4X games and certainly up there for turn-based strategy as a whole. The entire Civilization franchise has been around for decades and there is a reason for that, Civilization VI constantly challenges the player with new ideas and decisions from turn 1, with which research to do first, what should I build etc. and as you meet other players and found more cities, you have more and more to think about, which easily progresses towards a victory condition. You always have goals in this game and have the freedom to work towards those goals, whether it is building a certain wonder or trying to capture an enemy city. The downside to this game is without a doubt the endgame. It is very easy for strategy vets to completely snowball into a win, and the last 50 or so turns can feel like an endless drag of clicking next turn waiting for the condition to be met, while facing no serious challenge from the other AI who you are utterly demolishing. Near the end it turns from a strategy game to essential a city building game, which is fine for some people, but I feel the difficulty should scale better with the AI, and there should be more challenges once you reach those last 50 turns of the game. Overall it is very fun and addicting, lots of historical research went into it and the soundtrack is nothing but superb. Proceed with caution as you may accidentally lose an afternoon playing one more turn.

Very cute game and enjoyable to play with a friend. Takes you on a great journey across multiple different environments and is constantly introducing new and fun gameplay mechanics and minigames. Well worth the money for a one-time experience, and potentially replayable after a year or so. Storytelling does drop off a little bit near the end but that doesn't take away from the experience, it is still a great lot of fun. Would recommend.
