Feels like returning to old Destiny. A lot of new players seen to have issues with some of it such as the running back and forth between missions and not just launching them off the director. For people like me who have been playing since the launch of destiny 1 it feels like returning to a game I though had long since transformed into something else. Lots of story that isn't instantly explained to you that makes you think until the info is slowly revealed in the second half.

The crafting system is something I have disliked since its implementation so I have no issue with it being scaled back and the features exotics are more of a recommendation compared to a requirement. I beat the entire campaign on legend using none of the featured exotics and had no issues.

This feels like the start of a road that could lead to another age like the end of forsaken where even when there was no new story you kept playing cause there was always something fun to do whether that be dungeons, raid, crucible whatever. If they keep this up with a vision in mind while listening to the community I can see this being the start of a time where I want to play and bring new people into this game again.

quick edit due to my hours on steam being low most of my hours are on PS with a switch to pc in final shape

The game itself is very fun with a few issues that make it more frustrating than it needs to be.

The climbing itself is very well done it uses hold and grips correctly and seamlessly integrates them with the rock so they seems like natural and realistic routes. The stamina system is also well done requiring you to take a small break to regain you strength after being in a section with little to no proper grips. The system for pitons is also a nice and well thought out feature allowing you to add your own checkpoints as you want or need them.

My issues with the game are the automatic limb selection and the mapping of the manual limb selection.

The manual limb selection can be ignored as the full release should have the ability to remap them, for now though you cannot and the buttons assigned to each limb do not feel intuitive to use and often have you selecting the wrong limb in tense situations resulting in a fall.

My main issue is the automatic limb selection I will admit to being a mostly self taught rock climber so I may climb in a different way to the standard. However, at least to me in some situations it seems to pick limbs at random forcing me to either keep using the limbs it recommends till I get the one I want or use the manual selection, this tends to happen when I need to move a leg up it is restricting my movement the game seems to favour trying to make me use my arms which doesn't allow to progress until it decides to give me the leg that needs to be moved, There is also the fact that the game has no system for having hands release when stretching which can also limit movement until you are given the hand by the system or you manually select it.

Overall the game is very fun I am looking forward to the full release hopefully with some of the issues ironed out as I can see myself puts lots of hours into the full version.

8/10
