Once they fix the terrible lighting, the horrible performance, the inconsistent AI and the awful menus, it'll be a decent game.

Good if you just feel like messing around with mods. Takes some tuning to feel good.

TL,DR: Don't waste your money/time. iRacing is a detriment to sim racing.

A few points:

- The recent exploit of people driving over grass to go faster is just another one to the pile of fundamental issues that the devs choose to just bandaid fix, instead of fundamentally addressing them. Furthermore, now people are just being unfairly banned for accidentally stepping on grass as a result of driving mistakes. Not to mention they just made the entire genre look like a joke with this most recent episode.

- The community is the worst; very rare is the race you don't go through without people insulting each other over voice chat, not to mention the number of iRacing fanboys who go mental if you say anything bad about the game.

- The driving standards are horrific: it's irrelevant if 300 people sign up for a race when a good portion of those people drive like there's no one else on track and cause incidents all the time. iRacing punishment for protests is also laughable, doing no more than slap the wrist of offenders.

- There are so many smurf accounts, completely negating the point of the skill based matchmaking iRacing offers. iRacing of course does nothing about it because from their point of view they're getting money from these accounts.

- The handling model feels very antiquated at best. FFB, while smooth, does not offer anywhere near the same detail as more recent sim titles. As a result, catching mistakes feels very unintuitive most of the time.

- The tires in this game just plain suck. In every single car, you're just fighting to not overheat them. The fact that you have no access to tire data from within the game is also laughable, giving the impression they have something to hide about them.

- iRacing has a track record of censuring outlets who have anything bad to say about it.
