Interesting story but the whole game will hit harder if you are familiar with Japanese culture.
Combat has no reward other than removing an enemy from an area.
Inventory space is limited and shared between healing and loot items so you will spend a lot of time running back and forth to sell items for "faith" points. Points are used to upgrade and gamble for random charms.

Once you leave an area you are usually blocked from ever coming back so leaving items behind means missing out. You only start with 8 slots so if you don't want to waste items you will be running back and forth to sell or taking on combat just to use some healing items.

The puzzles are a bit tedious with hints ranging from useless to outright solving the puzzle for you. At times I was backtracking through empty areas rubbing my face against the walls for lore or hints scattered around.

Its a freaky story with a great atmosphere but it felt like I opened the bag and found out they forgot the horror in my horror game.

I liked silent hill 2 remake more.

Text based adventure with fantastic sound design. Now I just need to redraw my map to put my fragmented notes together before trying again.

if you tried the demo, its more of that.

Boring game that's worse with friends.

You loot to level up work benches to craft better gear. Find blueprints to learn how to craft new gear.
In solo you can try to talk to people to team up, but in squads most people kill on sight.

Ai combat difficulty ranges from instant death from stronger Arc to waste of time on the weaker Arc.
Most of your time will be spent avoiding things you don't need to fight for a quest.

leveling up feels unimpactful for most skills such as faster stamina regen when you crouch and stand still, or slightly faster crouch walk speed. Later skill tree skills let you open special loot boxes.

As a player I feel like I'm wasting my time picking up trash in between talking with random solo players about methods of completing quests with as little friction as possible. It feels like a job and the biggest reward is going back to base to manage the pack rat inventory.

Do loot runs, then decorate your base.

feels like "Luck be a Landlord" X A Rube Goldberg machine.

pick items, aliens, and positioning to make the number go up. your reward for surviving is more space to build a bigger point generator.

some set bonuses feel underwhelming but when things come together its lots of fun
