GOATed game, put me on HEALTH all those years ago

I don't usually write reviews but recently I had to swap to a little dinky low spec laptop and this is one of the few games I can still run, I also don't usually enjoy top down perspective games but this game is absolutely tremendous, I have been playing for maybe 2 years now and I have to say it has an almost perfect blend of needing to manage resources and doing the tedious stuff like maintaining a vehicle/farming/burning bodies to not get sick or draw more zombies in to the more exciting things like wiping a horde or scavenging in a police station quietly as to not draw attention because you only have a hunting knife and a can of beans to your name. you can set out to kill a 1000 zombies and get some gear but you're going to have to carry a ton of ammunition and weapons to do so and in turn wont have much space for the gear and will fatigue faster doing so, or you can go light with just a crowbar and a flashlight but if you run into a huge horde you wont have the resources to deal with it and will need to run for your life to survive.

speaking of that's one of the things that keep you on edge all the time and turns something like a run to a supermarket to get more food from a boring task to something that keeps you on your toes is that a single zombie can end your run, if you're not paying attention they can sneak up on you and bite you and that's it, I love this thing and between the mods and the servers people host there is almost a never ending amount of things to do or try that genuinely remains fun and keeps you on your feet and every run feels like its own story, its great mix of realism to feel immersed and like you're really struggling to survive and not so realistic that you have to micromanage boring and repetitive tasks that you don't even want to do. in fact if for whatever reason you decide you don't want to fortify a base and manage all the less exciting stuff you can hop in a car with a gas can or two and scavange a few cans of food and go about your day just running down as many zombies as you want.

at this point I am just waiting for B42 to drop and I understand the devs are putting a ton of time into it and as it stands the game is already amazing so I have no problem waiting for them to put out the best quality version they can + they don't intend to charge anything for future updates which makes me have that bit much more respect for them.
