Pretty much what a lot of folks are saying is true, I am still having a great time, but this is a buggy mess and there really is a lack of information communicated to the player. I have to keep searching a lot of solutions to stuff that used to be pretty simple before. I am just confused why they made some changes, some of them like the stuff they did with commands makes sense and I get why they did it the way they did. You just simply cannot stack guys and take over a settlement with ease like you could before. Other changes though, are kind of bewildering. Like when one of my settlements became suddenly unhappy with me, there was no communication as to why this was happening. It could have been one of many things, I did finally sort of figure it out and managed okay, but it cost me a lot of resources to try control the damage. Yeah the UI is fine when you are first starting out, but it really needs tooltips or something to help you as a player try to troubleshoot whatever issues you are experiencing. I am still having fun, don't get me wrong, but this feels more like Early Access than a full completed game. I would say, stick with the older civilization games until they patch this one up.

I loved the original game, and this one really takes that original concept and runs with it a little further. Most of the changes I love, some changes are a little bit more tedious, but for the most part it's great. This the best of the Myst series, and if you are frustrated with it, give it time, try to understand the underlying logic of the islands. While a lot of the puzzles have changed, and there are some even new ones, it still feels distinctly old school in it's approach. You will still have to look for hidden animals. You still have to learn the D'ni number system. The changes here are not meant to make this game any easier. Though I will say the fire marble puzzle is far more tolerable this time around. No, the puzzles aren't the point. The point is to get lost in this place and to understand it's world. It's a game design that encourages patience and thoughtfulness and presence. You're not supposed to just blaze through it. It's not the end of the journey that matters here. It's the journey itself.

It has lots and lots and lots of issues, but it's still overall, pretty fun so far.
