Cruelty Squad is one of the most addictively fun yet absurd and esoteric games I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

It isn't nearly as good as Gorbino's Quest though...

I absolutely love the themes in this game. I’ll probably think about it for the rest of my life. There are so many profound interactions with the characters, and much of the dialogue truly made me reflect. The character and world-building are stellar. I found myself genuinely caring for every member of S.E.E.S.

I can’t speak to how effective it is as a remake compared to the original Persona 3, but P3R made me want to give the original a playthrough. Also, the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic. I never found myself not enjoying it. While I prefer some tracks from the original P3 OST, P3R’s soundtrack is strong in its own right, and I enjoy it almost as much. The newly added songs, such as “Color Your Night,” are especially fantastic.

I'm not typically a fan of turn-based combat, but this game kept me hooked until the very end. I had a lot of fun fusing powerful Personas. I highly recommend this game. it was a great entry point for me into the Persona franchise.

This Game Wouldn't be The Same Without HEALTH

This game is fantastic, but I would go so far as to say it wouldn’t be nearly as impactful without its soundtrack. Not only did the soundtrack introduce me to HEALTH, but it's still probably my favorite album from them. Many of the tracks fit Max Payne as a character incredibly well. I truly felt like I was in his shoes when certain songs played.

The entire soundtrack has a dazed, disoriented tone, which perfectly reflects Max’s constant drinking and pill use. Below, I’ve listed some of the most important songs from the soundtrack for me personally. Only one track has lyrics, so for the others, I’m basing my interpretation on how each track sounds and the emotions it evoked while playing Max Payne 3.

⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD — YOU’VE BEEN WARNED ⚠️

HEALTH - TEARS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8_YZ7QVQlQ
This is the only song with lyrics in the entire game, which suggests it holds a deeper meaning for Max as a character—at least, that’s how I interpret it.

Love, save us once
We're far from where we fall
Love, save us once.
Beware what you want

These lines symbolize how far Max has come by the end of Max Payne 3. He’s far from where he fell both physically and mentally. after losing his loved ones. He’s now wary of forming new attachments because of the pain tied to his past.

Trust us now
It's time to let me go
Give up on us
Follow what you want
Trust us now
It's time to let me go
Give up
Give our soul away

To me, these lyrics sound like they’re being spoken from Michelle Payne’s perspective urging Max to let go of the past, to move on, and to let her soul rest.

Now you will go
Save us once
You'll never let go
Where we fall
Your memories are wrong
Save us once
Don't ever wake up
What you thought you want

This part alludes to the nightmares Max has dreams in which he saves his wife and daughter. He doesn’t want to wake up from them, because in them, they’re still alive.

You'll never wake up
It's time to let me never let go
Just follow in your memories alone
It's time to let me never wake up
We die alone

These final lines encapsulate Max’s journey. his acceptance of the past and willingness to move forward, while never forgetting Michelle, their daughter, and Mona Sax. it’s a powerful emotional resolution.

HEALTH - PAIN

This track doesn’t need lyrics to convey the immense emptiness Max feels. The dazed, hollow sound fits perfectly, and it genuinely gives me chills every time I hear it. It's incredibly evocative, its sad but with a faint glimmer of hope. An absolutely perfect track.

HEALTH - PILLS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLRYK_y1Kt0

Medication time! This track feels like a sonic spiral downward. I adore it. it has a hazy, dissociative atmosphere that’s both warm and melancholic. It’s only about a minute long, but it’s pure bliss.

HEALTH - MAX: PANAMA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-FpvsrhQQ4

One of the more toned-down tracks in the soundtrack, and for good reason. It captures the overwhelming confusion Max feels during the Panama mission, when he realizes he's been lied to by someone he trusted. The track mirrors that emotional shift brilliantly.

HEALTH - DEAD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3P7cTvY0YE

This haunting track plays during a flashback mission in which Max visits his wife and daughter's graves. and is ambushed mid-mourning. The track perfectly conveys a deep sense of dread. You can even hear the screams and cries of Max’s daughter from the first game, which were faithfully re-recorded by HEALTH because Rockstar couldn’t use the original soundbite.

HEALTH - SHELLS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV9dFWf-SPs

This track plays early in the game and sets the tone perfectly. It matches Max’s drunken haze, yet reminds us he’s still dangerous and capable. A great opening piece that nails the game’s unique mix of confusion and action.

Time For Game Review!!

Max Payne 3 is definitely a different experience compared to Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne . Rockstar took the series in a direction that Remedy likely wouldn’t have. but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The game shifts away from the noir comic-book vibe of the first two games in favor of a cinematic, action-movie aesthetic. Honestly, I love both styles, but Max Payne 3 stands out. I've never played anything quite like it. While some people dislike the visual effects and flashing screens, I personally loved them.

The story is solid, but what resonated most with me was Max’s internal struggle. By the end, I felt he had finally moved on from the past.

Gameplay-wise, it’s incredible. It made me feel like an unstoppable force, and I was genuinely hyped by some of the set-piece moments. Sure, it gets unrealistic at times. but we’re talking about a game where an alcoholic on opiates has bullet time. The calls for realism in other reviews feel misplaced. Max Payne 3 is trying to be an action movie. and it succeeds.

Most Far Cry games these days tend to fall flat they all just try to replicate the success of Far Cry 3. However, this game breaks away from that formula in the best way possible.

I absolutely love its campy 80s action-movie narrative and the killer synthwave soundtrack by Power Glove. It's ridiculously over the top, but that’s exactly what makes it so entertaining. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s where a lot of its charm comes from.

It’s 100% my favorite Far Cry game and to top it all off, it includes Metal Gear Solid references. What more could anyone ask for?

This is most definitely Half-Life at its absolute best. The combat feels great, the new enemies are unique and fun to fight, the achievements are enjoyable to grind, and the story is absolutely amazing—easily the best story development in the series, in my opinion. Overall, if you're considering Half-Life 2: Episode Two, I’d say go for it.
