The movement is one of the most smoothest I've experienced. The game is hard af, even on easy mode - takes you a while to get through the levels. Mechanics are pretty clean, and the gameplay is seamless in terms of knowing what to do. The different battery combinations, dishing out some cool jump movements and trying to stay alive, is insanely addictive.

I would say there are times when the audio cues from the robots gets a little too loud, and if the robots are just too many, it gets a little overwhelming because there are so many sounds playing in my headphones which basically means I don't understand where to look - so I get obliterated. There are times where I don't understand where a robot is coming from either because I didn't hear them, or the audio cues weren't spatial enough. The sound design in itself is really good, and fits the game - especially considering the fact that this is a student game. Especially the reloading clicks, the slaps when the gun is out, and the unique sweetener sounds for when a specific power up shot is ready.

10/10 on the VFX, presentation, character and enemies. Again, the game is hard at times even on easy (or maybe that's just a skill issue lol), so I didn't feel like trying out the medium or hard difficulties (yet). Voice acting for the main character sounded great, and I like how your helper friend on your hologram watch keeps telling you to stop messing around and get done with a certain objective so you're still in the know of what to do. The main menu screen seemed to be laggy but not the game itself while playing, and if there are a bunch of enemies on my screen it starts getting a little too heavy and laggy.

What I'd like more is there to be a mini tutorial of what to expect, and how to use the power ups (batteries). Perhaps a mini map might help finish the levels quicker and progress to the next part of the seemingly straightforward story, I like how the levels are randomized, so every time you restart you could get a different level - but that also means I lose my progress. Being able to re-play the level I died in would be awesome.

But the system design, controls, movement, animations, VFX, all seem to be very intricately designed. Trying different battery combinations was super fun! So, for a student project - it's absolutely insane. Great job! <3

90% of y'all buy this for the badges and the emoticons. Don't lie.
The game is fun though. Best to play if you want to get high and zone the ♥♥♥♥ but still want to keep that adrenaline pumping.
Great synthwave soundtrack. Vibey synthwave aesthetics. Fast af DeLorean.

Although I rue at the difficulty of some stages, this game is defo an instant classic. A headphone blasting soundtrack to slice dirty gangsters' heads off while you sip red bull as you go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane and just when the story starts to become more convoluted while also giving you a sense of hope, it hits you like a train over wtf you just played through.

Katana Zero is a classic. Head-to-head with Hotline Miami. With Devolver, it's just zero disappointment.

One annoying thing is how they tried to replicate the stage difficulty that's in Hotline Miami. I felt it just made it harder and longer to complete some stages. But then again, I might just be ♥♥♥♥ at playing.

Worth the full price, but I'd rather buy it during a sale.

Cracked humor. 80's action movie tropes. Terminator on steroids. Super flashy big balled guns. Ripping out cyber soldier hearts. Pumping synthwave OST. Stupid ass Uplay launcher. Yeah, that's that. Love it.

Just wish that the story be longer, but nevertheless the game is insanely fun to play. Falls under the exact genre of Hotline Miami and Katana Zero. But with more banana. Banana is good. Oh, and the soundtrack is bop af.

Can't ask for a better sequel to it's predecessor. Much gore, much guns, much death, and a super crazy story to finish it off. A++.
Some levels are a pain to complete though. But worth it. One time play for me.

Hands down an undisputed cult classic.
Can't stop playing once you get started. Highly recommended if you haven't played it yet.
