This is a mafia game through and through. I’ve seen a lot of comments about the game not having enough open-world activities and that the gameplay is fairly basic. To be fair, that’s true. But if you bought this game expecting it to be the next Red Dead Redemption 2, then you’ve come to the wrong place.

I never played the original, but I did play the remake, as well as Mafia II and Mafia III. While Mafia III is the odd one out in tone and style, if you liked Mafia I and Mafia II, you’ll probably enjoy this too. The story and characters are incredible—it feels like the original Godfather movie with a touch of Romeo and Juliet. Enzo, as the main character, is great in my opinion. His story arc is engaging, and all the major moments land exactly as they should.

All in all, if you’re looking for a classic mob story set in a beautiful open world, this is definitely a game for you.

On a side note, this apparently isn’t a fully fledged Mafia entry but more of a spin-off—likely to test the waters for a potential Mafia IV.

I definitely recommend this game and really hope it’s successful enough for the series to live on.
