This colony-sim is a story-game in disguise. I highly recommend playing on commitment mode for that so you can’t play safe and reload anytime. I encountered everything from a simple mad rat biting of my ear which then gets infected and I die to a bad cook making all my pawns vomit so they couldn’t get their work done and we all froze to death as soon as the winter started to a massive flesh-monster-pit opening going in mission impossible style, setting everything on fire and then, right at the end a pawn got downed. I left him behind because rescuing him would be mean sure dead for the whole squad. Then, as the massive pit started to collapse and my left behind pawn had 1h until the blood loss would kill him, I went in there, rescuing him last second just for him later to get hit by a jade-meteoroid… All little and huge encounters are so story and lore heavy when they truly mean something (aka perma-death). Moreover, after every few hours on a new map I still, after 700h, get so many new ideas on how and where to build next or and what ideologies to try next or… this game is a true gem, and I am not even counting all the workshop-items for it! THERE IS SO MUCH WORKSHOP-CONTENT! You can literally play a totally different game just with the free bonus content from other Rimworld-lovers. Amazing. Buy it. This would be the 1 game I would take to a deserted island so I can easily sink 1000h+ into it and not even remembering that I have to eat, sleep or get rescued…

Game was fun until patch #69 (25.10.2024).
With this patch they removed the need to loot because starter gear has same base stats.
There is little to no time for skill because fights are way too fast over.
There are no counters to common meta builds (movespeed).
There is just one meta: movespeed to get into meele, to then oneshot.

Edit: Since patch #69 they did some good thigns and again some bad things. Playerbase is imho shrinking to fast. Will wait untill next season if it is still worth. Imho they need longer fights, more skills like CC and counter CCs, more maps, more variation and better loot-progression.

Looks promising, but sadly the KI bugs out every other fight resulting in an endless loop of doing nothing and can only be fixed by reloading a save game.

The most best thing, besides the main-story, is looking for secrets and reading through sidestories. I find myself sightseeing 9/10 times in this game. And most of the time I get a nice reward doing so. This game realy is for adventures and treasure hunters. Reading every note and getting to know the whys and hows of this world is a true gem too! There is SO much lore that most people will just miss if they skip the walls of texts and side missions. Even totally random criminal-events have lore and loot to find. I am now 90h in and still far away from finishing this game. The only downside is that I can't play this game on my 3070 in 60fps.... The last patch made it a little better, but I randomly get drops below 40frames and if I keep playing without restarting the game it gets worse and worse. But besides the performance I've to say: GRAFICS ARE STUNNING!!!

What a pleasant little winter-wonderland. Pleasant in two ways: This game is really diverse and easy to play. I would highly recommend this game to kids or parents who’re looking for games for their children. I think it is more built towards kids because for me it was a little too easy.

The story starts out slow and progresses through various stages of growing up and friendships. A nice game for a cold winter-night and a cup of warm chocolate.

One small ‘musicpack’ update and every mod stops working. Could be a really good game if they would stop messing with mod- and content-creators. Not worth buying right now.

✔️ 70/100: Solid gameplay but still needs some optimizations.

Crucible feels like a mix in-between Paladins and Overwatch if they would’ve a child that’s half MOBA and half Battle-Royal… It’s fast passed, we have a few heroes with special abilities (nothing too overpowered imho), there are NPCs and exp to farm, there are objectives to get. Movement is very important, and you have to learn pretty fast, that YOU NEED TO MEELE (V-Button) to interrupt a capture. Atm there’s no way of communicating: No ingame voice- or textchat. I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing. On the positive side you don’t get any flaming or toxicity (que SOAD song here). On the negative side it’s hard if you don’t got any friends to play with. Right now, there’s a 4v4 that feels more like a MOBA and a 2v2 battle-royal. There’s also another mode, but no one plays that :D For perf-ref.: I got a decent system and the game runs smooth for me @ 70-150fps ingame (RTX 2060S + i7-4790k + SSD).

Good concept and fun fights, IF everything goes well. But sadly, it won't for most of the games. Lags are intense, I got several DCs InFight with the only option left to quit the match resulting in a 10-minute timeout due to "leaving an ongoing match". Sometimes you get a good run for 5+ matches with just a little lag and sometimes you won't get a single game for hours that won't crash/lag-out. The auction house is a joke (as it is right now). Items have a fixed price-range thus it's not player-driven whatsoever. And most items are way to expensive. And farming resources outdoors is also very expensive and sometimes even impossible because everything's already gone within minutes. The Troops you control in battle are expensive to upkeep, especially when doing PvE and the combat feels very spongy (mostly due to the lag)... There's still A LOT to fix before going 1.0

Edit (January 2020): The lag got a little better and since they did a little in terms of units, balancing and less grinding. There are still some things I don't like, but a lot got better!

A lot of jokes and very catchy music is what makes this game good! The basic economy-system is easy to understand and you have anough options to see what works and what/why not. There are a few things I am missing, but that would take the fun out of the micro management. I'd suggest this game to anyonone looking for a solid building game ;) Get ready to shake your head to the soundtracks ;)
