The Frosthaven demo, frankly, lacks polish. A lot of it... Technically, it's more like a public alpha test, but I'm not here to argue about terminology. We've only played 2 scenarios with my friends because the game desynced and the save got soft-locked. Take it for what it is, but here's what I noticed:

Gloomhaven's codebase is used, but things are different. Some features that worked there are now missing or not working as expected, while others are simply different. On an engine level, I did not really notice any major improvements over the previous game, while the regressions were noticable. A few of them are understandable, but when there's so many that I have to mention it, I begin to wonder if changing so much or reusing the same code at all was worth it.

This is important, because the majority of issues and inconsistencies likely stem from the team working with the old code while trying to apply new rules and logic, which means that even if the team is competent, we can expect many more problems down the line. I'm not going to list in this review the problems I've come across, but I do hope the team realizes that fans expect polish, and that they're willing to pay for it.

P.S. I love that we're getting an "official" digital Frosthaven, but please take your time and give us the best experience you can.

It's a solid experience overall, but I think the game gets even more exciting after reaching max level and unlocking all monsters. At that point, you can experiment with countless builds and synergies, and every monster is viable in some way. This really makes you think a lot, especially with the tough keeper challenges that constantly push your team to its limits. If you're into experimenting or theorycrafting, you'll likely enjoy the game thoroughly, but if you just want a fun Metroidvania or creature-collector experience, there's still plenty for you to enjoy too.

I've been following Baldur's Gate 3 since its early days and the team behind it, Larian Studios. They have created a masterpiece that undoubtedly impacted many of us. Of course, it's not perfect, and there are some bugs and issues here and there, but overall, it's astonishing. There are so many details in the game that talk about the studio's passion and competence, and there are so many options for everyone to enjoy the game regardless of where they come from.

Baldur's Gate 3 has made me connect with people I barely know or rarely talk to and has absolutely ignited my passion for D&D. Since the game's early days, I've been progressively getting to know more of its world through various games, videos and tabletop sessions. There's so much to see and talk about, and Baldur's Gate 3 has managed to capture the essence of it while also appealing to veterans and those new to D&D or gaming.

Would I recommend Baldur's Gate 3? Absolutely, even if you play only a portion of it or watch some videos. It's not just about the gameplay but about the world it plays in and the experience it offers.

My initial thought was to put a few dozen hours at best into this Skyrim mod or whatever Enderal is, yet here I am with a hundred hours and writing a recommendation for this masterpiece. I did not expect it at all to be this great and memorable. There is so much to say about Enderal, but I'll just say that it easily deserves to be among the top RPGs of all time.

As someone new to the D&D system, this game started as both exciting and frustrating. It teaches you the basics of combat but puts you in difficult situations that require much more than the basics. There are some hints on loading screens, but I usually had to look up how certain things work in D&D 5e to get past some early fights.

However, learning the mechanics and working my way through these fights made me realize how easy and fun those fights actually are. The more I know about the system, the more enjoyable it seems to be and the more eagerly I anticipate combat, to be faced with yet another challenge to overcome or be successful where I would have miserably failed before.

Combat is, of course, not everything the game has to offer, but that is its focus, and that is where it truly shines. There are some minor issues, like a few incorrect subtitles and optimization problems, but the game is enjoyable overall. If you're looking for a solid RPG that emphasizes combat, then this is a great choice. Just be prepared that you may need to spend some time learning the whys and hows of the system. I was hesitant at first, but I'm glad I've bought this game, as this is what introduced me to the fantastic universe of D&D.

First off, Inquisition has technical issues. Crashes, freezes, black screen, the game not launching, etc. These are well-known problems that will probably never get an official fix, but the solution is usually very simple and requires only a little troubleshooting. If this is something that discourages you from giving the game a try, that's perfectly fine. I've read about some people who had to go far out of the way to solve an issue, but usually, it takes about 5-10 minutes to make the game work properly.

With technical issues out of the way, I can wholeheartedly recommend the game. It may get boring at times, but it's worth pushing past some of these boring parts to experience what the game has to truly offer, especially the final DLC "Trespasser", of which I haven't heard a single complaint. Just make sure that when you get bored, stop doing fetch quests or whatever got you bored and progress with the main story. Some main quests, like "In Hushed Whispers" and "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts" are popular amongst even those who dislike Inquisition, since they are so well done and memorable. I know that some people have hard feelings about the game, but I can only recommend it.

There's not much else to say, since most people probably already know about the game, except that if you're interested in playing with it, don't let the reviews and the technical issues discourage you. It's Game of the Year for a reason, and I can say that it's well-earned.

TL;DR

Inquisition has technical issues, but there are simple workarounds to make it work. If you get bored while playing the game, just progress with the main story, it's worth it.
