This game is a masterpiece.

- The game is well polished. It's optimized. I'm running at 100+ fps on an 8 year old processor. I have crashed a single time in 73 hours. The graphics are seriously impressive for how well this game runs, too.

- Combat feels fair. Not once have I died and felt like the game was at fault for said death. Guns feel good to use and each one has its own personality and playstyle. The movement system is unique, fun, and smooth. There are so many gadgets (called quick use items) that allow you to creatively make an advantage in a fight.

- Audio is good. Really good. I feel like I can actually tell when a player is below me or above me. Enable the night mode setting - it'll make important cues pop out a bit more.

- Launch was seamless, and the player count is only going up. There was a queue to get into game ONCE, and that queue was less than 5 minutes for me. Developers realized queues suck and credited everyone $5 worth of premium currency for the wait.

- Premium currency isn't pay-to-win. Cosmetic only.

- The developers are actively listening to the community (including lowering the price of cosmetics) and are pushing a major content update within 2 weeks of release. Multiple new enemies, an entire new map, more quests, more quick use items. It makes me really excited for the future of this game. Not only are they pushing out new content, but they're fixing existing systems based on player feedback, such as adding duo queue instead of forcing duos into trio queue.

- You'll find a lot more willingness to communicate and be friendly with other players in this extraction shooter than any other. Randoms will often help you kill ARC or share loot. Not something you see often in this genre.

- Progression is rewarding. There's a skill tree that allows you to customize your own build. Loot is abundant enough that deaths aren't so punishing, but it's not like you're going to be running tier 4 pink guns within a few days either.

- Don't have a mic? No problem - the pinging system and in-game emote system allows you to effectively communicate with squadmates, should you choose to.

If I had some critiques...

- The crafting could use some QoL (auto-craft components when crafting a bigger recipe, for example. Allow upgrading a Anvil from level one to level four with one click, so long as you have the materials.)

- Navigating the stash feels just a bit clunky... I'm constantly cleaning up my stash. I hope that the expedition (the system that allows you to reset your character for permanent buffs) makes this more forgiving, but I suspect this will always be a problem for those who like to hoard a bunch of crafting components.

- The quests could be a bit more interesting/rewarding.

Nothing that affects the core gameplay - being in raid, fighting ARC and other Raiders, getting loot, and surviving.

Overall... Big W from Embark here.
There's so much going for this game. It let me fall in love with a game again. $40 for a AAA experience.
10/10, I will be voting this game for game of the year.

I honestly don't understand why the game has 91% positive reviews. It's only $10, yes, but I'd rather just play Lethal Company or REPO or something similar to that.

I refunded.
