A twin-stick shooter with the immaculate sound design and manageable difficulty at first that gets tougher to master and leaves less room for error as one discovers further modes after the main campaign, and the achievements. In the classic style of Jeppe Carlsen's 140, it features the inverted mode, and IF you have played 140 and are familiar with the sheer challenge that comes with the aforementioned mode, you can try to project that onto THOTH and get somewhat of an idea as to how difficult it can get. All in all, a fantastic minimalist experience.

This game is unforgiving. This game is catastrophically, fundamentally difficult. This game is life-ruining, and yet one cannot halt the desire to climb. One must and will climb. Perseverance is key, for the further one progresses, the more bounties the game presents.

It can get unhealthily (destructively even) addicting, so please be mindful of your mental and physical health. You are likely to feel an entire array of emotions throughout your journey, sometimes within a short time span. It can be despair, mania, panic, euphoria, relief, tension, fear, doom, dizziness, greed, contentment, rage, bloodlust, bloodlust, bloodlust, bloodlust, bloodlust.

Such an oppressively underrated horror game. The brilliant sound design amplifies the already petrifying atmosphere by a solid order of magnitude. What had struck me the most were the chasing / enraged / hunting sequences, with the insane speeds of the entities. I'm not gonna blather some epithets or hyperboles, just experience this game yourself, it is refreshingly fantastic.

[The review has been updated to better reflect my experience with the game and my emotions.]

This is, from the bottom of my heart, a gem of a rhythm game. The "rhythm violence" branding makes perfect sense.

The soundtrack is harrowing enough to possibly trigger the fight/flight/freeze/whatever else instinct... The beats are very catchy, the try not to headbang challenge would probably be difficult with them playing. Crispy artwork, unsettling gates (bosses), especially Crakhed's latter variations.

Sublime experience overall, 9 Crakheds and 1 Pyramid out of 10!
