My first foray into the RE franchise, absolutely loved this game. It's like a 3rd Person Shooter mixed with a metroidvania as you explore different parts of a elaborate museum/police station. Genuinely scary in moments, really fun shooting and exploration mechanics, and an interesting (if overacted) story. I played the Claire campaign first, which I liked more, although I think the Leon campaign would be a bit scarier if you played that one first because of a certain gentleman in a trench coat.
