I enjoy destiny 2, I have over 1000 hours on playstation. Ignoring all the stuff that has been going on with Bungie in recent months, the game has started to feel like a cash grab since lightfall. I think it is probably not worth playing F2P and it is only worth getting the DLC when it is on sale and if you have people to play with.

Personally I have been mostly unable to play on PC due to constant disconnects, I assume it is a game issue as my other PC games have no real issues and D2 runs fine on console for me, something to consider.
