This game is just not worth it! Don't waste your money!
My computer can barely run the game, and that's crazy since I'm running an AMD 9800X3D cpu, 5070 Ti, 32GB ram and a fast NVME SSD! Game runs like its locked at 60fps. I set everything to medium/low and could barely break 80fps At the same time the game looks really bad. Worse than Borderlands3. HOW COME?

I have just played Borderlands 3 and I had 250fps in that game with the same machine.
Honestly Borderlands 3 looked better!

Movement in Borderlands 4 feels completely off, like there's rubberbands between my hand and the mouse. Probably some input latency or something (IDK) but it felt so bad that I stopped playing after 45 minutes.

I can not recommend this game at all. What a shame, I really looked forward to playing it after having such fun in Borderlands 3.

EDITED: After playing for 40 hours I find this game fun and entertaining. It still performs incredible bad and it's borderline unplayable on my 5800x, RTX 5070 and 16GB ram. On that machine I'm running ~60-80fps in 1080p, and it stutters like crazy. I would fully recommend this game, if/when they fix the performance!

Not recommended. There are so many better games out there. I had much more fun and enjoyment in Valheim and Grounded!

Game is very buggy. Played multiplayer and often I could see something while my friend couldn't.
One time I spawned in our base and the door we had made had a huge wall behind it. My friend couldn't see the wall and could exit, and I was stuck in the base. wtf.

Game is also very dark. It helps a bit with setting the Color Grading to "Texas", but why should I try 10+ different color grades to find some that makes the game playable.

ALSO mouse sensitivity is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. I played on 0% mousemovement (800dpi mouse settings), and the mouse was way too sensitive. In comparison in CSGO it takes 40cm mouse movement to make a 360. In The Forest it takes about 5cm, even on the lowest setting possible. Why?

Base building is so slow and boring/tedious compared to Valheim and Grounded. I know they are newer games but it's still really bad in The Forest! Also, we didn't even need a base. Only slept and saved, and had a fire for food. Took us 6 hours to build a base and we didn't need it. Game is completed in 10 hours of playtime. We didn't even see all parts of the map.

Pros:
Easy to run, not that hard on the computer

Cons:
Armor can't be repaired. It just fails and disappears. Very tedious to make new armor constantly.
Too dark. Caves are way too dark.

Conclusion: Buy another game. There's so many much better games out there!

I can't recommend this game as it is now. It has it's elements but overall it's just not fun.

There's a lot more negative things to say than there's positive.

Just a small list:
There's no brightnes adjustment in the game settings! At game night-time my monitor is completely black. My 27" IPS monitor is hardware calibrated. A friends doesn't have that problem. When we go into caves, I can see fine, but my friends monitor is completely black. What's going on?

Game is laggy! I have a great PC with Ryzen 5800X and RTX3070 and that seems like it's not enough. wtf.

Respawn after dying: if you don't have a sleeping pad, you're doomed to "spawn at a random place" and then spend 10 minutes walking to the place you died. The "random place" is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ same place all the time!
Just spent 30 minutes trying to reclaim my gear. I had to run for 10 minutes from the "random spawn" to my gear, just to get attacked by two wolfs and then a bear. DEAD.
Second respawn I land exactly the same "random place" again. Run for 10 minutes in bad weather. Couldn't find shelter and died just as I arrived where my stuff was located.
THIRD respawn I run 10 minutes JUST TO SEE THAT MY HOUSE BURNED DOWN. Must have been struck by lightning. THIS IS NOT A FUN GAME MECHANIC.

When playing with friends, they're so hard to spot! Game should have player markers on the compass in the top of the screen. Could also be a triangle or something over the head.

After taking damage the regeneration of health is incredible slow.

Zoom on map can't get close enough for my liking.

WORST OF ALL: Game takes grinding to a new level. You spend hours upon hours building basic equipment, then better quipment etc. so you can do the mission.. Then 10-15 minutes later you're done and have to take the shuttle back to orbit, leaving all those things you spend hours making on the surface of the planet.
Next mission you land almost the same place, and do the same again. If you like sorting müsli or sorting 10.000 pieces of LEGO after colors, then this game is for you.

I would recommend buying VALHEIM instead.

Played it 10+ years ago, back when all my grand parents where alive. I spent so much time playing and not enough being with them. Bad priorities.

With enough time spent on Nexusmods, downloading content to make the game stable, not stutter and higher resolution the game is playable.

worth the €2.99 I payed.

Early Access Review
36 hours in and I feel like this game just eats up time like nothing else.
I like building stuff in this game.

There's plenty of room for improvement, but it doesn't feel like an alpha build.
I would like to see some better management of inventory. Like a traditionel Diablo load out, with places for armor, weapons etc.
The game also feels quite demanding. My PC is a AMD 5800X with RTX 3070 and can barely reach 100fps.
Multiplayer lags a lot.

A really cool feature is, that I can play on my own map (single player) and if a friend wants help or wants to see my base/buildings, I can just switch to an open game and they can join my server. And it's really easy to do so!

Overall the price is really good and I like the game. Recommended!

I already have the original games. Bought this because of nostalgia, and I'm not disappointed. Well made!! Animations run perfectly, the graphics look so clean. Really happy about this remastering. The price is just right.
