I bought this game in 2017, and didn't actually beat the first area until a year later nearing the end of 2018. I was pretty late getting to this game, but I still enjoyed every second of it, and the community is surprisingly still pretty active (in between 9,000-12,000 players average as of Jan. 2019.)

That being said, the reason I didn't play it until a year after I bought it was because it took me that long to hone the skills needed to beat the first boss. Now a days you'll be able to find this on sale for $10 or less, so if it's on sale grab it! If you're put off by the stigma around Dark Souls, don't worry. You'll die, a lot. It's part of the game! Once you get past the frustration of constantly dying, or not being able to figure out which way to go, or what you're supposed to do, you'll find the most intriguing lore in any game I've played in the past 10 years, a very robust and satisfying combat system, and a spine tingling soundtrack and world design. I can't recommend this game enough.

P.S. You can play this game with a keyboard, although many players use game-pads because of the omni-directional movement you can achieve versus the 8 directions you can get using only W/A/S/D. Don't worry about starting Dark Souls III before 2 or 1, The stories are semi-connected, but you'll still be able to understand everything without playing the previous 2 first. Also, DS3 is in my opinion the most forgiving game of the trilogy, so it's a great point to jump in, and then go play the predecessors if you enjoy it.

I originally only downloaded this game because it was free to play (F2P). After logging 380+ hours, and sinking at least a hundred dollars into it, I still find things that keep me coming back. DE updates this game at an insane rate, adding a new WarFrame (character) every month or so, with new weapons, tile sets, and mission variations along with it. Oh yeah, and did I forget to say that everything in the game that isn't only a cosmetic item can be recieved simply through grinding or building them? A fluid movement system on top of an interesting set of character skill sets and weapon mechanics, with enemies varying in difficulty and weaknesses. Overall this game is something you should definitely try for a few hours. I mean what have you got to lose?
