I've been playing this since day 1 without ever playing any of the original Elite-games. I've got about 200 hours more to my name since before it was available on steam.

I play it in bursts due to lack of time and other games.

This game is not for people who go cry in a corner if they take five steps back after taking one forward. It's certainly not for instant-gratification people either.

If you find it "one inch deep" then you're either not exploring the game enough (you're not going to be spoon-fed things to do) or it's simply not a game to your taste.

But I can really recommend giving it a go, but do your research first!

It feels somewhat unfinished. But despite that it's certainly one of the games I've enjoyed playing through the most. If you can snag it on sale (like the 4EUR it's at out) it's a no-brainer according to my taste!
