Blockgame is a neat little twist on the classic "match three" puzzle formula seen in countless games. You'd think by 2017 we'd have seen it all for this dead horse of a genre, but Blockgame takes that rotting horse corpse and reanimates it with an innovative mechanic: you control a character that must jump, dodge, and get the goat (literally) to match the endlessly falling blocks. The fantastic characters and music are only the topping of this tasty little snack of an indie game.

While not my favorite entry in the Max Payne franchise, Max Payne 2 is still an excellent, though short game. The gameplay is inherently the same as the first title, though there are several changes to the trademark bullet time mechanic. For one thing, it can be used basically in every fight. As Max kills more enemies, time slows down even more, which also you to reload faster, in an appropriatly cinematic fashion. The visuals are also essentially the same as the first game, with the welcome addition of ragdoll physics- blowing random thugs away is much more satifying. The storytelling is again similar, with the comic book style cutscenes overlayed with Max's familiar deadpan. To me, the story is the best part of the game. It ties in closely to the original game and features many of the same characters. Without going into to much detail, there are many twists across the game's 5 to 6 hour length. The relationship between Max and Mona is especially good, though I wish the sequences where you play as her stood out a bit more, as she plays exactly the same as Max. Sam Lake's writing is solid and I would say a tad better than the first game, several of Max's quips are very poetic and the ending of the game left me thinking.

All in all, I would recomend this game to any Max Payne fan, though I urge anyone to check of the first game before playing this one!
