Rain World is certainly a game I could recommend for people who enjoy platforming, vast maps, and a challenging play style. The introduction of the "Monk" play mode is great for people just starting out, or who aren't looking for quite as difficult of a game, while still allowing them to enjoy world exploration and survival.

I have been playing this game before its content update and think that although the game is difficult, its difficulty rarely feels unfair. Rain World requires some time investment to become familiar with controls and the environment in order to survive, but with a little patience there are many hours of exploration to be had. The game controls smoothly and are unique while paired with the physics of slugcat and other creatures. There are no skill advancements - facing new biomes and predators is left up to the player's discretion and quick-thinking.

The visuals and sound design of this game are beautiful, and I definitely recommend knowing as little as possible about the creatures you encounter within the game. There is fun in wondering whether or not another creature is friend, foe, or food.

The amount of playability you get for the price is incredibly generous; you can easily play for over 20 hours and still have room to goof around and explore. I think this game deserves every great review it receives.
