My name is a reference to the electronic component. Pronounced Die-Ode, the diode is the first semiconductor component. It is the basis of the transistor, another fundamental component in electronics, and which led the Electronic Age. Transistors and other minuaturized (Surface Mount) components are what make up processors, and Integrated circuits(Chips).
