This is my second Steam account and my second time owning Counter-Strike 1.6. On this one alone, I’ve clocked nearly 800 hours, and on my previous account I had around the same. And that’s not even counting the countless hours I played it back in the early 2000s, before Steam, on the non-official versions that every kid in my generation was hooked on.

Compared to the current Counter-Strike 2, 1.6 remains, for me and for those from my generation (’97 and older), the true OG of the series. Its movement, gunplay, and raw competitive feel are unmatched even today. There’s something about the simplicity and precision that made every duel feel personal, every round a test of skill and reflexes.

While I had hoped CS2 would at least come close to recapturing that magic, it’s clear that 1.6 stands as a monument to what competitive FPS gaming used to be – fast, pure, and unforgiving. For veterans like me, it’s not just a game, it’s a piece of our gaming history.

I've never played on rank mode or versus mode ,because personal i dont like it.
I recommend this game just for co-op and spec ops.
In rest everything on this game is great and very beautiful

First ,big mistake making it free.
Second, is full not only of hackers, but also of Russians and Turks.
The Anti-Cheat system is made of dust, it does not ban anything, it lets you as overwatch to take attitude and all for nothing.
At the next Counter Strike game, Valve will not have that much to gain just like this one or previous, maybe just from the fools.
For me personally, I do not think I will play it for too long.
If you want to try it, you don't have to waste time, the game is nice, but it spoils you psychically and it doesn't deserve to get there.
