God I wish I could enjoy this game. The original Evil Genius game was funny, it had charm, character, it knew exactly who its audience was and how to make a game for them; the styling of the game was absolutely fantastic. EG2 just feels flat and lifeless.

Yes I get it, times have changed and not only have some of the jokes in the original EG game fallen out of fashion slightly but also games development is far more in the hands of business men and women who tunnel vision on creating games that they *think* will sell, completely missing what the consumer actually wants. But when they sell the game as an updated and upgraded version of the first game, absolutely targeted towards fans, then you would assume the slightest bit of common knowledge would make you focus on what fans enjoyed about the last game.

The game is ok, its fine. Yes there are some terrible game mechanics that were unnecessarily added and some absolutely shocking decisions to remove some features that felt like the core of Evil Genius but if I was presented this on a blank canvas I wouldn't really be too alarmed. It's just not Evil Genius.

I was so excited when they announced this game, I followed the development and was counting down the days until launch. safe to say I was really disappointed. I played a few hours, and it just felt wrong. I came back to this game having given it some months to brew hoping that it would have improved but it just hasn't. Sure, now that I've taken some more time to learn the game a little more it's become slightly more enjoyable, but I just have to keep forgetting that its pretending to be Evil Genius to allow me to have fun.

I wish there was an option to say I neither do or don't recommended this game but as I'm forced to choose then there's only one thing I can do.

The graphics are pretty good although this is a big game so you would assume that. The biggest thing to say about the graphics is that some of the character skins blend into the maps but its pretty situational.

This defining feature of this game is destruction, parts of the map can be destroyed and used as ways to get around, pretty cool huh? The game uses an operator system, like LoL, Paladins, Valorant etc, each having their own special abilities and different guns. Apart from that the game is very much like other shooters although it is a lot more tactical

This one I had to put somewhere in the middle of two. I admit, my ears are still very much tuned to the old sound system, I know the new one is meant to be better but I just still cant seem to get used to it. This game does have a habit of making you think someone is near you when they actually aren't or vice versa. However, menu sounds and the sounds themselves are pretty top notch.

There is a pretty tough learning curve in this game. Besides learning the general game mechanics and gun control a player will also need to learn the different abilities, sounds and operators of which there are many, however soon enough, you will get the hang of it.

This game has a fantastic cartoon art style which definitely compliments the simplistic theme the game portrays, it can be run on anything with very little loss of quality even on lower settings.

The gameplay is simple: push enemy off edge. This game is a fantastic starting point for new gamers and can allow non-gamers and pros to play together. The learning curve is pretty basic so a new player wont take long to master the basics but there is still some learning to be done as the game progresses. This game is super satisfying when you get a nice combo on an enemy and you send them flying off the edge of the screen.

The audio is ok, some nice voice over for when the match starts, domination, ect. Sound effects for hits and each character has their sounds but after a while it can get really repetitive. This game has pretty simple controls to learn, but mastering them is a lot harder to do. It takes time to get used to thinking fast and pressing the buttons faster but as you progress it feels really satisfying.

Harder ranks are hard, lower ranks are less hard. Simple as, not really anything too difficult to worry about but you'll definitely notice when you are getting better because everyone is better than you.

Depending on what you are playing you can spend anything from 5 minutes to 5 hours on this game. It can get pretty difficult to continue when you are getting absolutely destroyed but I still come back to it occasionally when I want to chill.

In all honesty this game is pretty clean, lag is the only thing that occasionally screws over a game but that's more user side than the fault of the game devs.
