discovery of secrets and story, with several cool mechanics. Liked the music too.

Fun game with nice graphics and lots of secrets, and layers of secrets beneath those secrets. I found some of them to be more obnoxious and onerous than I wanted to mess with, but everyone has their own threshold for what's fun and what's just work, so I'd say be prepared to "put a pin in it" if/when it becomes un-fun. This is the advise I am trying to get myself to listen to at least.

Right up there with Myst and Riven for me. Loved the game, world, and story. Love that the puzzles mostly aren't puzzles but are part of the world that have a reason to be there and to be the way they are. They are perplexing to the player because they are not of the world. That said, from a "game design" perspective, some players may be frustrated with how much traversal is required in some sections, but I enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds.

Phenomenal remake of a legendary game, with a nice VR implementation to boot.

played in desktop. haven't tried VR. Loved the art and surreal environments. Interesting story with high quality voice acting and narration.

For me, the "go in blind" idea did it a disservice. Had I read the store page I would have seen RPG and top-down shooter and abstained. Liked: exploration, some of the puzzles, some of the end-game revelations. Disliked: random encounters, combat (abstracted bullethell turn based waves that require signiviant menu navigation and some coordination+skill), dialog mining, inventory management. Got stuck at a boss battle impass Dummy in sewer due to lack of skill, minimum stats, no way to backtrack to level up. Very not fun for me. I nuked my save files and due to sunk-cost fallacy, against better judgement I started over, ensuring better stats/items. Beat the game, but I think I did not get the intended experience that I suspect is what so many people find impactful about this game. Completely naively I did a pacifist run first-go. Never even considered attacking Toriel, and once I saw it was possible to get past without attacking, that's what I did when required to proceed, but avoided/flee'd encounters whenever possible.

the game is beautiful and adds and enhances over the original in many ways.

Puzzles are well integrated in the world/lore such that most of them don't feel like puzzles. To me that is a big plus.

Commentary on meta-knowledge of story structure that some might consider a mild spoiler:
Branching story is a bit annoying to me as it means I have to load an earlier save to see the rest of the game, but for some that's extra replay value and is a plus. There's lots of optional extra content in here for those who like to work at extracting every tidbit.[/spoiler[/noparse]

Lovely visuals/environs/designs/architecture. Decent puzzles and really cool mechanisms. Only major complaint is the Unity Antialiasing is really terrible. Recommend running nVidia DSR or AMD VSR to supersample and take some of the rough edges off.
