While it may lack some of the charm and epic scale of the original Hollow Knight, Silksong excels in many other aspects. It has x2 more locations, more cunning enemies and a wider gameplay variety. Struggling with a boss? Spam them with your traps. Hate the diagonal pogo? Git gud! Change your moveset with the Wanderer Crest.

Bosses and challenges are fairly designed. Nothing feels extraordinarily difficult, not even Steel Soul Mode. Just take your time and your patience will be awarded. Besides, you can always return to them later.

However, the difficulty curve feels unbalanced even after the patches. The early game is harder than the mid-game, because at the start you don't yet have a wide arsenal of skills / tools to counter 2 masks dmg. On the other hand, the game lacks end-game challenges as well. No the Colosseum of Fools, no Path of Pain, no legendary Pantheons.

Still, I believe the upcoming DLCs will add more end-game content and push the difficulty limit even further.

Overall, Silksong is a fantastic game, and I genuinely hope it wins GOTY 2025!
