Started playing this directly after finishing Doom 2016 and this game feels like a well made knock off of the last game. All the pickups look like generic assets from a default pack, weapons and key cards just float and spin in place instead of existing in the world. constant tutorial popups that teleport you out of the action instead of just letting you use the new mechanic in the game world. you quickly encounter an enemy whose projectiles are so fast that it feels like you need to slow down and take cover. all your weapons now have barely any ammo so they force you to use the chainsaw on minor enemies because you almost always only have one fuel. there is basically no connection to what happened at the end of the last game and the start of this one. also the blood punch and flame thrower feel more like chores then fun mechanics.

Though with all that said I would say the game is like 6/10. After being excited to play this and trying to like it, it really doesn't hold up to the quality of Doom 2016.

TLDR; Changed some great things from Doom 2016 and feels bloated with unfun mechanics.

Reminds me of that open exploration feel I had when playing fallout 1 & 2. An open world with secrets to be discovered

Beautiful art and music, subtle but powerful storytelling, and precise tight gameplay make this game a wonderful experience.
