Ok, I played this game with "German -> Japanese" first. That was on my Steam-Deck. I already found that the translations of some words were off and the controls are absolutely awful. Then I've wanted to switch to my PC and found out, that the saves are NOT synced... So I restarted the game with "English -> Japanese" in hopes the translation would be more on point. Spoiler, it wasn't!

For example "こんにちは" (konnichiwa) only means "hello" NOT "Hello. How are you?" Otherwise it would be "こんにちは。元気ですか" (konnichiwa. genkidesuka). And keisatsu teepi is "police tape" not "tape". To just name a few.

Also it's kinda counterproductive that you see the translation when hovering over words while doing a vocab test on the ATM... I don't really need to rembember what's what that way...

For the controls, it's just an endless series of mouseclick (or keeping the mouse button pressed down). When walking where I can't because there are walls, I'm often moving somewhere I totally did not want to. And in the desert I've got around some big mountain, and almost did not get back. (Although by returning to the home screen you could always reset your position).

Oh and the orientation you're facing is dictated by the position you're standing at, you can just look around.

And opening those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chests is more of a test of patience than it is for the vocabs, even when you know them all, you're still wasting time, rolling those frickin slots... Why not do a similar system as with the passwords for the computers? That was way better!

As for the content, it's a little short, you're rushing from shard to shards (7 in total) for some bossfights and the game is over depending on how fast you are, and how good in the language already (you wont really not to be really good though) it's roughly a playtime between 6 and 10 hours.

So overall, I would not recommend this game for learning japanese. I for my part, think I'll just get back to the manga I'm reading specially made for learning japanese.

A nice game, but here are some suggestions to make it better.

It totally needs a multiplayer-mode and a world-editor where you could create your own worlds and stories would be adorable.

And why are the slimes called blob? (At least in the german version). I can't but to think about "Binary Large OBjects"... Slime in german would be "Schleim" ^^

But thats it. I would definitely recommend playing this game.

Funny Game. I can only recommend it.

The Gameplay itself is nice, but the Game is definitely to buggy. If you change the windowed mode to fullscreen it stucks and you have to restart it. If you push the Windows Button ingame it won't open again, there will be only a completely black window. So if they fix the bugs it would be nice, but so I can't recommend it.
