A Fantastic Return to the Bayou with One Persistent Issue

Hunt: Showdown 1896 is an outstanding experience and a brilliant evolution of the original game. The atmosphere is unmatched—every swamp, shack, and shadow feels alive. The new 1896 setting enhances the tension and immersion even further, and the sound design is still some of the best you’ll find in any shooter.

Gunplay feels weighty and satisfying, progression is rewarding, and every match tells its own story filled with suspense, strategy, and adrenaline. Crytek clearly put a lot of love into this update, and it shows.

The only real downside is that there are still too many players from outside the region (e.g., Russia, China) ending up on German servers, which sometimes affects the gameplay experience. Better regional matchmaking would make this near-perfect game truly flawless.

Despite that, Hunt: Showdown 1896 remains one of the most intense and memorable PvPvE experiences available. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys tactical shooters with atmosphere and heart-pounding action.
